"Terrific unit records all DVD and CD formats."
Pros: Records DVD+R, DVD-R as well as CDs. Simple menu function. Full complement of inputs, including digital. S-video output as well as input. Front firewire input.
Cons: An input gain control would be nice.
Summary: Dear Cnet: Come on, what recorder did you really test in your review? It couldn't have been the LiteOn 5005. It's the only machine I found that records on ANY DVD media plus CD media as well--how could you have overlooked that major feature? As for appearance and reproduction quality, I can't fault it, so far. I've transferred old tapes and LPs without a hitch. A friend of mine is a film directer who uses his 5005 all the time with no complaints. I did have an intermittent initilizing problem with my first unit, but the LiteOn people repaired and returned it within a week. No problems since. In my opinion, you've done a disservice to a very nice piece of equipment. You guys blew it this time around.

Would like to know how to put all our old LPs onto DVD. Where can we find the how-to?
Thanks, Dave
