Pros: Easy to navigate through on-screeen menus, nice video quality on XP and SP recordings
Cons: No "last position" memory and no repeating event timer recording option
Summary: Aside from being surprised that there are a few of what I would expect as standard features missing on this machine, the DMR-E55 seems to be of good mechanical quality and does a decent job of recording.

Pros: The Price is reasonable
Cons: Defective Finalizations
Summary: We bought about a dozen for our business, Dub King Video. We find consistant, although they would occasionally work, errors during finalization. When finished, the menus display only partially.

"A poor performance DVD recorder"
Pros: have 3 inputs to use
Cons: only can record on DVD-R, or DVD-ram
Summary: This unit got poor rf reception. I have to record the TV show to my sony VCR than copy to this unit. Double work.

"Good for camcorder tape transfer"
Pros: I purchased this solely to transfer my old Hi8 tapes to DVD media. It has done an acceptable job of doing that. Relatively easy to use as long as you're willing to do some experimenting on your own. The video quality on SP setting is quite good, compar
Cons: Very limited editing. You have to stop the recording at just the right moment in order to split your recording into chapters, otherwise it will automatically do it every 5 minutes or so but not really in chapter format. Since you're recording onto DVD-R
