Pros Ease of use and flex recording are very good.
Cons none found in our use of this machine
Summary We have a DVR to time shift tv shows so we do not use the digital tuner nor timed recording which has caused some other users problems. If what you want to is to convert old VHS tapes to DVDs this is a very easy unit to use for that purpose. We have a couple hundred tapes of personal video that we are converting without any editing and this is so easy that my wife can use it with no problems. We also have dozens of tapes of old tv shows that we are moving to DVD. The flex recording feature allows you to record at the highest quality setting for whatever the length of time you want to copy from a tape. If the tape has 90 minutes that you want to re-record, you don't have to record at the 2 hr speed. Use the flex recording setting and it will fill a standard DVD with the 90 minutes. Thus giving you the best quality for the length of what you are recording.
Pros The HDMI rendering is good compared to not having any before.
Cons It takes a tremendous amount of time to get the system setup. Surfing channels is not possible it may take 2 seconds to render a channel. My Insight tuner is better than this twice as costly system! This is being returned ASAP.
Summary Look some where else this system is terribly slow and not worth anything but a good kick down the stairs, really!!!
It takes a tremendous amount of time to get the system setup. Surfing channels is not possible because this machine is so slow it may take 2 seconds to render a channel. My cheap Insight "Best buy brand" tuner that it replaces is much better than this twice as costly system! This is being returned ASAP. Sadly there were not too many DVD-recorders with TV-tuners at bestbuy I may have to looks else where
Pros Unit does a good job recording DVDs.
Cons Over the air HDTV channel selection/tuning is very poorly designed.
Summary The DVD recorder works very well recording digital channels when you can select the channels. The scheduled recording feature works well. The most serious problem is that digital channels that are not found in automatic scan can not be selected manually. Changing the antenna or the direction requires redoing the auto scan which takes two to four minutes. The digital channels found on the first scan are lost when the auto scan is repeated. When auto scan is not done, no digital channels can be selected.

Pros there is absolutely zero about this product, total piece.. worthless..spent 50 dollars less and get the toshiba 570..
Cons i spent it all on the pros.. nothing but a paper weight..
Summary I deal with a whole lot of digi, resolution, and tuned up'ed tech stuff.. saw the EZ28K vs the Toshiba-DR570 and the latter beats the crap outta the Panasonic. If i was panasonic I would embarassed to put a product out like this..nothing but errors..with the Toshiba-DR570 it was error free plug and play..easy. TV tuner looks great. I bought the panasonic only to return for the Toshiba and save 50 bucks. newer tech a plus too
