"LEARN TO HUM WITH THIS ONE!!!"
Pros: relatively compact design--
Cons: hums 24/7--don't put it in a bedroom!!--locks up--does not recognize dvd's
Summary: steer clear of this puppy!!--i purchased mine in dec 03--and to date it will only recognized maxell dvd+rw--none of the other "acceptable" brands rca recommends will work--also NONE of the maxell dvd+r work--they always show that i have 58 or 78 hrs of recording on them when i insert them for teh first time!!!LOL--then when i try to record--it shows an error and says the dvd is dirty--i have wasted box after box of blank dvd's--and, YES, the thing hums all the time--i called rca back in early 04 aboaut the fan--i thought it was overheating they informed me then about the fan and its need to be there--so much for the bedroom spot--when it kept messing up the dvd's i called again--they said there might be a problem with the machine but they did not want it back--and i would have to send it away..they would not even spend time with me to try and find a solution--just wanted me to ship it off--the business i spoke with in regards to the dvd's informed me it was an ongoing problem and could not take care of--HA!--i have cable and every time i set the guide plus, it takes 24 hrs to set and when it sets--it works for a day or so then disappears..and i have to re-program again and again--everything the others have written negative about this product is true!!--stay away from it--regardless of how cheap
