"I have no problems with this DVD recorder" on by jchavez53
Pros: Ease to use
Cons: Haven't found one yet
Summary: I went through two other DVD recorders until I bought this one. I have had no problems with it, it is easy to use and records decent recordings using the HQ setting. I'll stick with this one until something better comes along.

"Some Improvements; Still has some kinks." on by suemichele
Pros: short-cuts in labeling, like pause button=space and back button=delete when in labeling mode.
Cons: All letters & #'s are lumped together, still no ?, comma, or apostrophe, and it has a ^, but no colon - can anyone explain that to me?
Summary: I definitely think they've made some improvements over the previous models (I have an R120, as well as the previous year's dual DVD-R/VCR). HOWEVER, HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY PROBLEMS DUBBING COPIES OF DVD-R'S THEY'VE MADE ON THIS USING A DVD BURNER ON A PC??? PLEASE EMAIL ME AT suemichele@yahoo.com!
All in all, it beats other similar units, like the Philips and the Sony (the latest of which has no pause function while recording!), but could use improvements, like longer labels & perhaps a keyboard connection to make that easier, and the ability to CHOOSE when your chapters cut (why hasn't anyone figured out that it'd be nice to put chapter marks where you PAUSE while recording? maybe Samsung reads these reviews and will do that next year? I can hope, can't I?)
The remote doesn't repeat when you hold down a key, which makes moving the cursor around during labeling annoying. But the layout of the remote is pretty good, and slightly different than the R120.
So far (and I've only had the thing about 2 weeks; I don't know yet if I can come back & update my review, I've never done one before), I'd recommend this, if only I could be sure what's going on with the dubbing once I put the DVD-R (yes, it's been finalized) into my (light-scribe) DVD burner. I'm not using light-scribe disks, but you can use any kind with that - I've tried Maxell, HP, and Memorex printable, and none have been copied; it says to check the disk for scratches, etc., though I've tried 5 or 6, and all play perfectly on various players, so I'm baffled. I've also successfully copied a DVD-R I recorded on the R120 in the same burner, so the burner is definitely working. But if I find no other explanation, the R130 may be exchanged later today for another Samsung model. I need to be able to copy the disks!
Did I mention that I'll be sticking with Samsung, unless something changes drastically? So far, they've got the best DVD recorders. -
"Just what I was looking for." on by o2setup
Pros: Set up was real easy, and its also easy to use.
Cons: Can't seem to record off the TV.It's my doing not the recorder.
Summary: I was looking for an inexpensive deck to transfer my old sharp cam recorder film and this is so easy.Plus the finished product is better than the film witch is at least 10 years old.Now I'm not to good at hooking up anything so I guess if I keep playing I'll figure out how to record off the TV.I highly recommend this deck.Got it at Circut City.

OK a friend came and hooked up the dvd so I could record from the TV.So now I have no cons. Its worth the money I saved to do it myself. Now I'm going to play around and see exactly what I can do with my home movies.
