"You'd better like calling customer support if you buy this"
Pros: It looks really nice.
Cons: It breaks in a month.
Summary: It looks nice, but the substandard attention to quality is apparent as soon as you put a disk in. The messages that appear in the blue boxes whenever you insert a disk or stop recording are written in broken English.
When the recording is finished, inputting the name of the track through the remote reveals that there is no comma and no apostrophe in the selections. But there's a ~, a @, and a ^. The line length for each track is far too short for occasional long titles.
My unit began malfunctioning, in the exact same way my old GX7 began malfunctioning, about a month and a half after I started using it.
Sony's customer service center exists, apparently, solely to keep you from getting through to anyone with any authority at all at Sony. A mailing label request has taken 8 days to expedite. I still don't have it, even though it was supposed to be e-mailed within five business days.
Put it this way: They can't get a mailing label into an e-mail inbox in 8 days. They can't write a single sentence in proper English. Their service center consists almost totally of people who sound like robots who can't do anything to address problems.
Do you think they're capable of making a product that works?

This is a drag on SONY name. As others mentioned, the main drawback is that you cann't record a movie from Cable, directTV or DISH.
2. I wish the recording time left over time were shown on the T.V, it doesn't. You have to watch it from the unit itself, which is inconvenient.
3. When you stop recording, the T.V screen freezes for few seconds due to the dvd recorder. You cann't do nothing about it, cann't watch T.V or change channels. This is another drag.
So, before, buying consider these issues!
