"Copy protection is not what I wanted + more dislikes"
Pros: Great for recording from vhs.
Cons: Copy protection; slow to record; only automatic index makers
Summary: This Sony RDR GX355 is not what I wanted. This is my third dvd recorder(first Sony) and the first to not allow me to records shows from my DVR box. My other philips recorder does. I think it's because of the "line in" recording feature that stops the shows from being recorded from HBO. That's a deal breaker right there. My second beef is that it doesn't allow you to put in your own Chapter markers(index makers); it will put 5min or 15min or none automatically, but I want to manually do it, where i can put it where I want it; deal breaker; My third beef, it doesn't start recording right away; delayed by seconds, cutting off the beginning of intros or music videos, etc. Thus, I'm returning mine.
