"Hi-def signal gets widescreen DVDs, copy prot is tough"
Pros: Widescreen DVDs from hi-def off-air or hi-def unencoded-cable signals is a nice feature. Remote is nice with Sony TV.
Cons: Some unencoded cable signals (some on LIFE, WE, etc.) cannot be recorded to DVD. Filling a disk sometimes results in unusable disk. Pausing a recording after 0-1 seconds sometimes results in unusable disk.
Summary: Widescreen feature is very nice. Glitches mean that you must ALWAYS back up your direct-to DVD recording with DVR or something else.
