"Don't expect to record DVD's with this unit."
Pros: Plays records VHS tapes, Plays DVDs
Cons: Bad software not working for recording on timer.
Summary: I purchased one of these units this week and am now on my second one in an attempt to get one that works as stated. The major problem with this unit appears to be in the operation of the DVD recorder. In trying to record TV shows, after the recording ends, the unit turns off with the INF WRITE flashing on the display. That's it, the only way to turn it back on is to insert a tape or unplug the unit which then has to go back through setup. You have a 50-50 chance of not having the recording be there based on the last three days of attempt to record!
The second unit not only has the problems of the first, but has added skipping to a recorded track!
Almost every piece of audio/video equipment I have is Sony, but this one is going back!
