Pros

I've recorded daily for the several months I've owned it without any problems

Cons

No cooling vents. Since (my understanding) overheating can be a problem with this type of device, I use an external fan when appropriate to prevent any potential problems in this regard. Also, no HDMI or S-Video ports.

Summary

This is a no-frills workhorse that has provided me with excellent results.

I purchased this DVD player in late September 2010, it stopped working on 2/5/11 (after 4.5 months of minimal use), I contacted Toshiba's customer service and they were rude and unhelpful and said there was nothing they could do, because the warranty was only for 90 days. I will never buy another Toshiba product.
