"My new kindle is the best!!!" on by cmrn
Pros: 1. Smaller than last kindle without the screen size changing
2. built in wifi
3. Free 3G wireless
4. Web browser
5. Text to speach w/ headphone jack and built in speakeers
6. Long battery life
7. Large amount of memory
8. Thin and lightCons: 1. Buttons to turn pages are smaller
2. No more yetSummary: The new kindle is definetly the best one yet. I like to read but at a slow pace and my sister reads at a fast pace. We used to share a kindle 2 (I use the word share loosly because she would always steal it from me) after my old original kindle I handed down to her was stolen. Now that I have my new kindle 3 she uses the kindle 2. I would have not gotten the newer kindle if it were not for this. If you currently have a kindle 2 it is not worth buying a new one just yet but if you have the original kindle I would recomend it.
I am a high school student and I do use my kindle for textbooks. The school I currently go to had major budjet cuts and can't afford to give each student a textbook to keep at home. I would never take my kindle to school (my sister had her kindle stolen because she did) but keeping my textbooks at school and using my kindle at home saves me from carrying about 30Ib. of books to my home and back every day.
I know that I am only a high school student but I have an online store that sells bumper stickers, t shirts, and other cheap stuff to help me get money for college. Every 6 months I have to take a week long trip to Orlando (I live n the pan handle of Florida) to pick up the products I ordered and to make sure my order is correct. During this trip I don't even need to pack my kindles charger.
The only cons I really have is that the buttons to tur the pages are smaller which is something I am really getting used to. This really isn't a con but the just imagine reading a romance novel with text to speach lol. All of the pros are listed on amazons site. Also if you are definetly getting the new kindle get the one with both wifi and 3G because it is free 3G wireless and your only going to pay an extra $50 for it. If you are still not sure about what company your going to buy an e-reader from choose amazom because of the price and extra features it allows. My dad had sony's e-reader but returned it because the touch screen is a little blury and can get annoying. The nook is also a good e-reader but the touch screen really just sucks power out of the battery. Also the nook does not have as many books available as amazon does and it does not have a web browser. -
"Amazing reader.... More than I expected!!" on by osmoove
Pros: Rich Contrast, Words pop out at you
The experimental features are great.
Allows you to download music (mp3) to play in the background,
Surf Internet,
Narrate e-books when available
battery life is incredible
Weighs less than a paper back book.Cons: Wish it came with a cover. But I can understand based on the price of the unit.
Summary: I had no intentions of buying an e-reader this early in the game, but the price was undeniable. The initial reviews were great and I must say it lived up to the hype. If you are looking for a serious e-reader and not a tablet substitution for a laptop this is what you want. You wont be sorry.

"Great Product!!!" on by lanakc
Pros: Slim profile, light weight, number of cheap and free books, screen contrast, battery life
Cons: Reduced size of next page buttons.
Summary: The 3rd generation Kindle is the best e-reader out there. It is easy to use and has an enormous collection of ebooks. It feels much better built than the Nook, which feels cheap and has an inferior screen. The touch navigation on the nook is also extremely laggy and irritating to use. The Kindle is comfortable to hold and my arm does not get tired from holding it up like it does when I read on the Nook. For those that have issues with ithe Kindle not supporting epub to download free books or the book sharing feature, get over it. If you enjoy a book or an author, SUPPORT THEM. If you constantly receive free ebooks there is no incentive for an author to publish new books. You would not do your job for free so why should an author? Besides, books on the Kindle are still cheap (or free) and most are priced for less than the $9.99 advertised. Overall, if you want a great e-reader with an awesome experience, the 3rd generation Kindle is the way to go, hands down.

"Simple the best got even better" on by mk37994
Pros: Portable book reading in an easy to hold package
Cons: Not much, all the latest changes make it that much better of a choice
Summary: I had the kindle 2 and was sekeptical about spending more money on a device. I was able to get my kindle 3 a little early. I have to say its just feels better in your hands. They did some much needed improvments in all the right areas. The browser there is no comparing the old one to this one. For the price a definite buy!

"I love this e-reader. It is a remarkable product!" on by HarryGaga
Pros: The e-ink screen is so easy to read anywhere; on a plane, in my dark dorm room, and even in broad daylight. I like the text-to-speech for my young cousins so that they can "read" in my car. The page turns are so fast as well.
Cons: If you don't purchase a cover you can get your Kindle pretty dirty and a little scratched up. Also, sometimes my Kindle freezes for about 20 seconds. The 3G doesn't catch in certain places but that's with every 3G device.
Summary: The Kindle has an amazing body but there are a few things that could be improved. The back has this rubbery feel to it so if you scratch it, you can easily rub it off but if you scratch the front, it's scratched. The buttons for the keyboard rub off easily after much use but they have a grip on them that allows a better push. Also the cursor is amazing for small fingers. Bigger fingers might have a problem with navigations.
The e-ink screen is the brightest gray, white, and black's that I've ever seen. It doesn't really matter that it doesn't have color because it's primary use is for reading, not for searching the web. That's why browser is still under experimental. Also, the page turns can be a tad slow at times. Sometimes the Kindle will freeze up but that does not happen a lot. The details used in the sleeping state in the pictures are magnificent. You can barely see any pixelating in the Kindle at all!
The store is very accessible as well. It's right on your Kindle! When you press the Menu button and then you press "Go to My Kindle Store" it will immediately take you there. There it gives you suggestions of books depending on the books you have previously bought. You can also buy magazines, New York Times Bestsellers, and many others. I was a bit dissapointed in some of the books that are not available on the Kindle but most of that is the author's fault as not wanting their books to be pirated.
For some reason, I have read soooo many books on the Kindle in such a short amount of time. I've read six books in the matter of two weeks. It kind of blows my mind.
The Kindle is beautiful inside and out and is a perfect gift for anyone! My grandmother, my younger cousin, and even my best friend are all getting Kindle's because they are so jealous of mine.
