"K1 to K3 - Kindle still the BEST ereader"5.0 starson by dlmayes
Pros: Pros: Crisp screen; Ease of downloading a book: small size; instant word look-up; quick page turns; large book selection at Amazon - and LOTS of free books offered
Cons: Cons: Actually, none I can even think of. Compared to the K1, the K3 is a big improvement. It operates much faster, and the screen is quite clear.
Summary: I've been a Kindle user since it's introduction in 2007. I love the ease of downloading a book anytime, anywhere. The addition of all of Amazon's free books have kept my cost of books down tremendously. I have discovered so many new authors and genre's through the free book selection. I like the K3's size over the K1, because it fits easily in my purse, and is much lighter. I have the lighted case, so that solves the problem of reading the non-backlit screen in dark rooms. My light is always with me when I need it now, and I don't have to worry if I need batteries for the light either since the light runs off the Kindle battery.
Many have compared the Kindle to the iPad. Since I also own an iPad I feel I can contribute my observations in comparing the two devices. The iPad is great for many things, but as an ereader I don't think it can compare - especially for the heavy reader. The backlit screen does fatigue the eyes if reading for long perids. The touch screen is nice, but does leave fingerprints that are annoying to a reader. And, finally the weight and size of the iPad is just too big and heavy to be convenient to carry in a purse. Even reading in bed at night can be tiresome to hold because ofits weight. The iPad is great for websurfing, Facebook, videos, etc., but is not the best reader on the market. Also, I enjoy the reading experience on the Kindle, because it is just a dedicated e-reader, and I'm not distracted by websurfing, emails, facebook, etc. I can just read - just like in a paper book.
For a dedicated ereader - Kindle is the best.
