Not true white screen, just the appearance during the highest light settingSummary: To say that this e-reader is cheaply made is complete folly! Anyone who actually owns or has held the Paperwhite knows that it feel great in your hands. It also feels sturdy and the rubberized back makes it feel like it won't slip out of your hands. I owned a Kindle 4 previous and the Paperwhite is heavier - not by much but at least I feel it will take a beating if I am clumsy.
The light on the Paperwhite is lovely. Although I was expecting a white screen (which it is not, despite what the ads say), but instead it's still the same grey screen. With the light on at highest setting, it appears white.
X-ray is amazing. Based on your reading speed, the lower left corner will tell you how much time is left to the next chapter. Or how far you are in the book. Its great for the bus ride, or before sleep when you want to read just a little more.
Cloud function is great and iOS users will love it. The cloud will sync with each device with the Kindle app. So if you're on page 101 of a book on your Kindle, your iPad or iPhone app will sync to that page. Very handy.
I would love more fonts, but that's just cosmetic.
It is (as of late 2012) the best e-reader on the market.
