  • "Almost great."
    on by MamaLlama

Pros Inexpensive, very nice ereader/tablet that can be easily upgraded to a full android tablet with the nook2 microSD card. Exceptional value for the money.

    Cons Battery life.
    Wifi only.

Summary I bought it refurbished and added the nook2 card (which does NOT void the warranty). So, for less than the price of a new Nook Color, I have a great android tablet.

  • "Nice e-reader with one drawback"
    on by MsGerth

    Pros Ease of use
    great screen
    great for surfing the net
    plays video and music
uses mini SDHC so you can take endless books and video with you

Cons shorter battery life than Nook
    no Text-to-speech

Summary This is an e-reader/media device. You can read, listen to music, surf the web and watch videos. It is great for travel as long as you don't mind keeping a charger with you. My nook classic could go a a week to 10 days without charging. I find the Nook color needs charging after 5 hours of reading vs Nook of about 10. It does more so that is understandable.

It is also easy to remove the mini-sd card on the Nook classic you had to remove the back panel to change the SD card. I have seen the new Nook and it is also easy access.

The only advantage I see of Kindle over Nook is availability of Text-To-Speech. I have a mild learning disorder and use TTS on my computer. I think this is a major mistake by Barnes and Noble. Hopefully as more android apps become available we will get access to the TTS options available on other android devices.

They are alienating people with learning disabilities by not allowing the Nook Color to have Text-to-Speech.

  • "With the new, latest Anroid download OS 1.2 it's GREAT!"
    on by hootowlz

Pros New OS upgrade released April 25 has been long awaited. Lots of apps now available, offers good functionality as a tablet beyond being just a reader/surfer. Latest version includes the FLASH program, animating the displays.

Cons Applications & ebooks files are specific to the Nook; you need buy from B & N (unless u r creative!)

Summary Have loved this Color Nook since it first came out! With the latest Operating System upgrade, it's value has increased, too. EZ to read, run, and good battery life too. Recommend the case that converts to a stand to go with it.

For the money, it cannot be beaten! This is the way of the future for kids, adults, and their books & mags!

  • "Great E-book with more capabilities."
    on by jackramius

Pros Wi-Fi; Color; Size of Screen; Touch Screen

Cons Poor Apps; no way to get additional apps (yet); battery Life

Summary I got this for my wife; who likes to read at night when I'm trying to sleep. Now I can have the lights off while she uses the Nook. I only wish they had an App site to get addition apps.

  • "I give it a d"

Pros I like acccess to the web, able to uppload library books, and display resoluation.

Cons No help Obtaining downloads is frustating, no videos from the web, and a very sensitive screen. Also, techinical help is
