"Excellent ereader"4.5 starson by GSOgymrat
Pros: Size, weight, screen clarity, ease of use
Cons: Needs to be connected to a computer to download public library books
Summary: I have an iPad 2 and use the Nook app but it is not good for reading outside due to glare and I worry about leaving an $700 device poolside when I go in the water. I decided to try the Nook Simple Touch for a trip to the beach and it has exceeded my expectations. It is very light and the shape of the back with the rubberized surface feels great. I can hold it in either hand for hours and just turn pages with my thumb. It is small enough to fit in the pocket of my cargo shorts. Buying books is simple. I have also downloaded books from my local public library, although you do have to connect the Nook to a computer for that. Nook has "shelves" so you can organize your books. I have posted comments on books to Facebook, reviewed books and lended books with no problem. Battery life is excellent, especially if you turn off the wifi when you are not using it. You get perks if you take your Nook into Barnes and Noble, such as reading their ebook library for free for a hour. I still love my iPad other stuff but for reading I use my Nook.
