"Excellent for a knowledgeable computer user"
Pros: Can read many ebook formats
Cons: After a few years the page turning wheel wears out
Summary: I love my ebookman. You have to know what you are doing when it comes to moving files around on your computer but if you can do that it's great.
What I do is delete everything on it except the MobiPocket Reader and it's associated files.
All I use it for is an ebook reader. So, I don't need the other stuff.
You can download a free MobiPocket converter from mobipocket.com and convert any .txt, .doc, .pdf or .html file to the mobipocket format.
You can also use the free ABC Amber Lit converter to convert .lit files to html and then to mobipocket.
So, you can read virtually any ebook.
It doesn't have a built in battery so you have to buy your own. What I did was go to Radio Shack and buy a battery charger and 4 NMH batteries for it. Two are charging while I'm using the other two. These four batteries have lasted me almost two years now. Make sure you get the Radio Shack brand.
If you want a pda type machine don't get this. If you want a relatively inexpensive ebook reader get it. Once you get rid of the useless apps in the OS you have plenty of room for at least 15 ebooks.
Oh, and never buy a MMC of over 16MB. It doesn't handle them well.
Overall, as an ebook reader you can't beat it.
