Don't expect to improve your productivity with this tool.

Pros: color schema for each site connection

Cons: SLOOOW local directoy listing & refresh. Unnecessary dialog box for regular OS tasks, a dialog box to rename a local file?. Lack of keyboard shortcuts to common tasks. Refresh into another folder...

Review: If you are a totally rookie in FTP transfers, go for this software in which you won't notice the slow response and poor productivity that you will achieve in your daily tasks. Use this only if you are uploading large files that your web based FTP client can't manage once in a month.

But, If you are a professional updating up to 10 or 20 domains at a day, look for another solution that allow you to improve your productivity like my light weight AceFTP which by just typing CTRL+R and you are uploading. What i find the most annoying from this software is that when you open it you have to wait for it to list your local files, c'mon!!! if you are used to type the first letters of your files to get to that file in a list, forget about it and use your mouse to find your files.

Oh! I almost forget... don't get upset when this thing refresh your remote files list in another folder rather than the one you just uploaded a file.

This program is second to none

Pros: Very easy to setup and configure.

Cons: I can't find any...wait I have 1...maybe the can work on Mac platform as well.

Review: Ipswitch?s WS_FTP Professional is a great product. I have tested it along with several other file transfer programs and found that Ipswich makes the best file transfer software on the market today. I think that the only improvement that they could make is to design their software to work with Mac applications as well. Who knows, maybe one day they will.

Now, when I say tested various programs, I am talking about the following, performance, configuration, setup issues, security?but most important to me?tech support. I don?t know about you but when I call tech support I don?t want to get a person that is located in another country and can?t even understand, also, I look for areas that some improvements could be made. However, with Ipswitch?s product I have not needed to call their tech support, the software they design is that good.

I rate Ipswitch?s software a 10. 10 being the highest. I rate their tech support 10 as well. Your money is well spent and they are the best. Now, you can stop here or continue reading my review.

I have used WS_FTP for sometime now and do recommend it to all of my clients. Sure there are a few other file transfer programs out there that do work OK, but I have found that the people at Ipswitch have designed a program that is very easy to use and even easier to setup and configure?so even those among us that don?t know a lot file transfer programs and may be confused?or just need help setting it up will find it very easy to set it up and use the program.

In testing out this program and several others I found that some worked as good or close to WS_FTP but configuring it to work?and tech support?lets not even go there, no let?s go there. The others do offer some kind of support if you?re will to write e-mail and wait for up to 48 hours for an answer that may or may resolve your issue or you will get someone you can?t understand. You will not have this problem with Ipswitch; all of their employees are very well trained and know what they are talking about.

Well, the people at Ipswitch not only make a good program that will fit your needs they also have some of the best support that I have seen given by any company. You can send them an e-mail or if you?re like me?pickup the phone and talk with a real live person that knows what they?re doing?the best part, get this, there tech support team is located right here in the USA, so you?ll be speaking with someone that you can understand and they understand you. Now that?s great.

So, people?you can purchase a cheaper product, but not a better one. Also, you should remember that ?you pay for what you get?, if you want a great product that also gives you great support, performance, and security?then Ipswitch is the way to go.

I just purchased a two pack of their new WS_FTP 2006 Professional without even testing it. Why? Because I know the product will be even better than their last version. They have made some improvements to the 2006 version, better security for one thing. Now I can go on and on about how good Ipswitch and their support are but I will stop here by just saying, give them a call.

I have spoken many times to Steve Holt, one of Ipswitch?s lead sales supervisors, and if he does not have correct answer for you when you call or send him an e-mail, he will get someone on the phone with him and you will get all of your questions answered.

I have one last thing to tell you then I am finished. Last year I downloaded and tested their FTP Server Program and found that worked great. Last week I was on the phone with Steve Holt and I said to him ?I tested your server program last year and I went to your site and still noticed that the same version is there are there any plans to improve it or create a newer version??

Steve told me that they were working on it and that are always looking to improve there products. So, guess what, I got that program too?and no, I am not being paid by Ipswitch. I did not get any free software from them. I have to pay just like the rest of you. Give Steve a call he will be more than happy to talk with you. If you wish to contact me, please send me an e-mail at dirkpratt@catcomputers.us. And I will get back to you and answer any questions when I can.
