"LogMeIn gets 'Two Thumbs Way Up'" on by GreenAdmin
Pros: Quick Connections, Firewall Traversing, Very Secure, Access from a Pocket PC
Cons: I didn't find out about it sooner.
Summary: LogMeIn.com has raised the bar for remote administration with their new free utility. Competitors such as GoToMyPC offer the same kinds of services but they are lacking in several areas.
One of the main reason why LogMeIn.com is amazing is because it truly is free. All you have to do is go to their site, give them your email address and then are ready to begin remote controlling your other computers. It really is that simple; you don't have to enter your address or any credit card information.
Second on the list of things that made love this product was that it was extremely quick when compared to it's competitors: there was absolutely no lag time.
Third, this remote utility supports 256 bit encryption in conjunction with RSA, and Windows Authentication. It simply is the most secure option available. Especially when compared to other competitors products.
Finally, I loved the fact that I no longer had to worry about setting up port fowarding on my router, or having to reconfigure various firewalls. LogMeIn.com accomplishes this by establishing a secure HTTP tunnel via port 443.
I've tried them all: VNC's, pcAnywhere, GoToMyPC, but the LogMeIn.com is head and shoulders above the rest. It's Free, Fast, and Safe. -

"I can't believe it's FREE!" on by forkboy
Pros: Quick, simple and intuitive. Forget Remote Assistance!
Cons: I've only had the chance to use it once thus far.....
Summary: Living far from mom & dad, who happen to be quite computer illiterate, I was having trouble being their phone tech support guru. I tried Remote Assistance, but it always failed and NOTHING I found on the boards and forums helped. But someone suggested LogMeIn.com and it was perfection from moment one. My dad thinks it's cool. Mom will sh*t her pants next time she needs a hand.
Only issue I had was I couldn't remotely select the Access/Deny buttons on the pop-up messages from ZoneAlarm. But as one of my parents will be sitting there while I work some remote tech support, it's not even an issue!
I couldn't be happier with this product. I'm still smiling! -
"The product has taken a nose dive" on by Bradford W Brown
Pros: I have been a long term user (about 3 years) of LogMeIn with both the LMI Free and the LogMeIn Pro. LOVED IT, until they came out with the new release in Sept 2009.
Cons: The new release is slower, took away great features that both the free and pay users had and showed a total disregard to their existing users with the upgrade.
Summary: I would suggest anyone interested in this product check out the LogMeIn Community posts on their website. It is not good. They have gone from where they got kudos after kudos to posting after posting of angry dissatisfied customers.

"A very sophisticated and brilliantly easy product to use." on by aigphoto
Pros: Works extremely well even in complex situations
Cons: Nothing of note
Summary: Even in a very difficult scenario (accessing a two-monitor system on a network sitting behind both hardware and software firewalls) LogMeIn performed flawlessly "out of the box". I could have either monitor or both displayed on my single-monitor widescreen remote system, running Photoshop with minimal latency and excellent image quality. File transfer was quite fast and drag-and-drop easy.
Since my IT folks had been unable to set up remote access for me without a VPN tunnel, and considered the hardware firewall setup an impossible barrier, I think there will be a red face or two tomorrow.
All this was accomplished with multiple layers of security, which I find as impressive as the performance.
Highly recommended.
