Too much spam in the inboxby banzaigtv - July 21, 2009
Pros: Abundant space available, loads fine with broadband connection
Cons: Most of the new messages in the inbox are explicit spam
Review:
I have once had a Yahoo mail account in the past. Two years ago, my inbox was getting slammed with spam messages involving porn sites, sex videos, etc. Roughly 95% of my inbox messages were spam. It has been happening constantly, even when I repeatedly marked the messages from those servers as spam. After about a year of this, I have had enough and switched to Google mail. I have abandoned my Yahoo mail account and will never use it again. The problem with getting inappropriate contents in my inbox is no more. Apparently Yahoo does not even know the definition of "spam folder". Yahoo deserves to go out of business and should die in a fire.

I like the old Yahoo Mail betterby pets2soul - July 15, 2009
Pros: Free......
Cons: Buggy, Bad UI, Annoying AD and add contact requests
Review:
Tried new Yahoo Mail for 1 week, and I had to switch back to the old version.
The new UI is terrible, the way it splits the inbox, puts your email list in a short portion which takes you longer to scroll down for an older email, and it displays your email in a short and narrow box, make it extra hard to read on those mini Netbooks, and it doesn't allow you to hide either of the frames.
Mostly importantly, new Yahoo Mail is buggy, like when I try to access the mail options, it'd show me an error msg, and I haven't successfully access the mail options yet...and when you click to hide the AD banner at the right, a Tips msg would ALWAYS pop up no matter how many times you chose not to show that freaking msg again...
However, after you switch back to Yahoo Mail classic, you'd notice that the search mail function is GONE...

Indeed -- Yahoo EMail Now Sucks!by DaveNovak - June 17, 2009

Yahoo Email Now Sucksby brynze - January 23, 2009
Pros: More like what I used to like - never any real problems - easy to use, etc...
Cons: Now the "search mail" feature never works - I can no longer throw a email address into the searchbox, and get all my emails either to or from that address - i have to search manually-it's broken - when I draft a mess, it opens with all html coding...
Review:
Yahoo is doing nothing about these problems - I have emailed them on numerous occasions - and recently I noticed you can no longer email them... there is not the "contact us" on every page like there used to be - and if you finagle a way to find a "contact us" deep in the site- they won't return a message to you - and just today I noticed they added a note on this page that says they only return emails to Yahoo Small Business Owners - So if you have an email problem - good luck. I am leaving them now - This has gone on long enough... they could care less about the people who made them what they are - I am taking to the internet and panning them everywhere! Companies like this should no be aloud to exist.

GREAT for just email, but others offer more, for freeby kenboy127 - November 29, 2008
Pros: it is a superb email client, from simply sending a message to sorting contacts. it shines in most categories of email clients.
Cons: you have to upgrade to yahoo mail plus (which costs money) to get regular features including using offline apps, such as outlook, to manage mail and automatic message forwarding. gmail offers all of this for free.

Pros: Beautiful and intuitive interface, powerful spam filter, attachment scans with Norton, tabbed, and much, much more.
Cons: Advertisments.
Review:
Yahoo! Mail is easily the best webmail out there...though it isn't as fast and simple as Gmail, its advantage in features and power leave Google in the dust. The only real problem I have is the ads, because sometimes they slow down the loading of email because they have to load first...and if this is a real problem for you, you can upgrade to Yahoo! Mail Plus for $19.95. Other than that, perfect!

Cons: No customer service, Help pages are no help, no response to issues,

where do I start? you cannot access any where in the many help pages where you can contact the customer service and write them exactly what the issue is....
when you have finally do find a place to enter your direct complaint, they respond with a "form" letter that is no where close to your problem or not at all
I have a current issue that has been going on for nearly 3 weeks now, regarding attachmnts and their "preview mode" all I get is the run-a-round and "we are working on it" notes....

Y-Mail (beta) takes a nose-diveby Lemonhed - June 16, 2007
Pros: Beta improvements were otherwise fine, people were liking it.
Cons: The ads killed it for the AT&T users. Users are hopping mad.
Review:
Recently, AT&T customers that signed on for DSL and got Y-Mail as their mail interface....well...they got shafted. AT&T and Yahoo (maybe just yahoo? Each cust service dept blames the other guy, the users say) decided to put ads in the user's email experience. I recommend you head over to the 'Yodel Anecdotal' section of Yahoo, and look at the tremendous negative user feedback about this under John Kremer's announcement regarding unlimited storage. People are up in arms, and threatening to leave in droves. Personally, I have already left, specifically because of this. Not just ISP's, I bailed on the phone service also. It wasn't the only thing in play, though. As a yahoo services user, I've noted a sharp decrease in their design team's ability to fathom customer needs, much les design good quality systems that could meet them. It goes across the board, and coupled with Yahoo's long standing failures to provide even remedial customer service, it was just high time to move on. Y'know something? I feel great about my choice, and have no idea why I waited so long. Sure, you could switch your YMail to the pre-beta look, and suffer through the same experience you would have had with the free service...and still be a paying customer...or you could move on, and take a deep breath of fresh air. I moved on, went with a bundled phone/net/TV package with a competitor, and now, in addition to faster internet, I will always know what my bill will be. No more billing errors (I assume),
no insanely confusing "help" pages (I assume), and no thoughtless infliction of terrible design on users. Well, not from Yahoo anyway. Yahoo's star is fading, and the problem is coming from the inside. The design VP of 11 years resigned (indisgust I am led to believe by the net articles), people are reportedly waiting to bail out on their Yahoo jobs as soon as the right offer comes along, and Terry Semel (CEO) has been taking a beating from the board, and is likelt to soon face some noise making from the 'Plan B' shareholder crowd that is doing a grassroots, youtube based movement to retake Yahoo from itself, and demanding his head be the first to roll among other things. I wish them luck.

Service has gone downhillby SAA999 - April 11, 2007
Pros: Nothing I can think of
Cons: Lets spam through like crazy
Review:
I was a loyal Yahoo plus user for many years. Then about two years ago I noticed that I was getting a LOT of spam slipping through the filters and there was nothing that would remedy it. I set up a Gmail account and discovered that the spam that Yahoo failed to flag, was getting caught by Gmail. I also noticed that Gmail was a tad bit faster.
I have switched to Gmail and I am here shouting it from the rooftops, Gmail beats Yahoo on everything. I recently got all my email down to just one (with Yahoo I had to use different emails so I could have a throw away for those places that would spam me). For almost a month I let Gmail filter my email and I had over 1,000 spam messages. ONLY 2 GOT PAST GMAIL (a success rate of 99.8%)! If it had been Yahoo, I would have been to busy deleting spam to keep up with it.
Drop Yahoo and get Gmail. You will be much happier.

Unreliable...used to be great, what happened?by sblagrave - April 2, 2007
Pros: Beta has some cool new features
Cons: Unreliable mail delivery
Review:
After more than 5 years with my yahoo account, I was excited to see the beta. It has lots of great features and they also offer more storage now. Unfortunately their service has been incredibly unreliable in the last year - I think they offered more services and features than their infrastructure can support. Mail messages sent to me never arrive in my inbox and bounce back to the sender saying I cannot be found. Today I received a letter from a financial company asking me to please update my email address on file since repeated attempts to my yahoo account had failed. That was the last straw - I'm not in the process of updating all my accounts and getting rid of my yahoo account. Gmail here I come!

Customer satisfaction what is that?by asheth - December 6, 2005
Pros: Doing everything because Google is out there
Cons: Have issues:( There is no help.
Review:
I have been a Yahoo user for about 7 years now. I use to heavily use Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger products.
While working on messenger, I was attacked by a virus which some how scheduled my account for deletion in the month of January. I sent out an email to Yahoo about it and told them if they could make sure that such a thing doesn't happen. No responses.
Thankfully a friend worked at yahoo who helped me out and made sure that I didn't loose any data.
But it turned out that because of the virus, my ability to change my user settings went away. I started to live it with.
A month back, I lost access to my account all together. I was unable to login to the yahoo mail portal and check email. Between 11/21 and 12/06 I sent out about 60 emails to Yahoo Customer support and I am yet to hear back froma sane person. Everyone who tries to contact me keeps asking me to refresh my browser to see if the problem goes away. I am not sure when would Yahoo's customer support realize that the three finger salute is not always the answer to all problems.
My account is yet to be fixed thanks to the disaster customer support at Yahoo.

What happened to Yahoo Mail? Sucks now.. almost as bad as Hotmailby Jessreese - July 1, 2005
Pros: Still free... and increased to 1 GB
Cons: Takes FOREVER to download on most internet connections
Review:
You simply cannot open Yahoo email on most 56K connections anymore. Nor can you open it on most slower/weaker wireless connections. CNET tech snobs may laugh at the 56K connection issue--but considering that the majority of common folks STILL use 56K--and it is THESE very people that use Yahoo email the most--THIS IS A PROBLEM GUYS!
I have no problem opening other free email (such as care2.com) on these slower connections, so I don't know what Yahoo's problem is, but they need to get it together.
Also, it kind of sucks that you can't get any technical support or customer service--even if you're a paying customer. Or maybe you have to jump through a bunch of hidden hoops to get the help, I don't know. Whatever the case may be, if you're having trouble with your email, help is not easy to come by and you're essentially screwed. Better not use Yahoo mail for your business.
I know Yahoo's defenders will say it's 'free', but don't give me that because I know Yahoo pulls in big bucks with advertising... enough money to at least provide email that WORKS and ADEQUATE customer service.

I just love Yahoo! Mail simplicity and featureset: filters: although they may be better and be able to manage boolean operators in a single rule to avoid having to use several rules to filter a word in several fields, for example. antivirus: as good as Norton Antivirus can provide (excellent) storage: 4 MB, although not plenty, is enough, but you'll need to keep an eye in maintenance. rich text emails: unfortunately there is no support for Mozilla. Very sad. premium service: there's no way to get rid of the web interface ads. it would be desirable if they include a send fax option in the premium package, teaming with partner eFax, but charging on a per page, per locatoin basis. as for spam, yahoo mail is my main account and I receive 3 spam messages (and about 99% are cought by Junk Mail)at most per day. I think avoiding email "promiscuity" is the best spam control: giving the main account only to very trusted providers, reviewing the privacy policy, taking any chance to opt out mailing lists, using disposable email addresses for a while with just know providers.

I have had Yahoo sine 2001. I decided to pay for the premium service when it became available. So far I have been happy except that I still have to look at the ads on the web interface even though I pay $30 a year now. I am an extremist when it comes to spam and I don't share the Yahoo address with anyone I don't know. I also opted out of all their "offers". To yahoo's credit I have not recieved One piece of spam in two years addressed to my yahoo account. I have another address that I use for "public" emails that gets spammed on a regular basis but the yahoo account remains untouched as I have reqested.

I've been with Yahoo for about 4 years now and I've never regretted it. I have 6 mb (right now you only get 4mb) of space and with my Yahoo account, I have a briefcase that holds 35 mb that I can hold put any of my files online so that I never need to use floppies to work on my files at home. Now that Yahoo has hooked with Launch.com, I can watch my movies with my Yahoo! account. The calendar and its reminders is a great way to keep track of things. I still can't believe people still use Hotmail.

Kings of the Internet or Jesters of Customer Service?by - April 21, 2003
Pros:

I was a HEAVY Yahoo! Everything User for the longest time but then, much like Deric (listed here) I lost my account to some kind of hack. Luckily, I'd only paid for one year of Yahoo! Mail Plus - Basic ($29.99/yr for 25MB). Life was good with Yahoo! for several years and now with the added Mail upgrade this were smooth sailing, that is until they pulled the plug on my account. There is still no explanation as to what happened, in fact, if anyone reading this knows who to write to in order to file an appeal please respond. All I get is a page that states my name has been removed and then points me to the Terms of Service. Yahoo! is still king of the hill for portals, mail, content... everything, really. But I cannot recommend to anyone to pay for their services as long as they can pull the plug for such vaguely stated reasons yet without explanation to add insult to injury.

I've had my Yahoo! account for over five years. I get pretty much no junk mail whatsoever, and whatever I do get is caught in my Bulk Mail. The other features are incredible - I don't know what I would do without Yahoo! Briefcase and Notepad - and the interface is clean, simple, and intuitive. I love the fact that I can instantly save my attachments to my Yahoo!Briefcase, which offers an impressive 30 MB of storage free. And you CAN download have POP3 support with Yahoo! Mail for free - just download and configure Yahoo!POPs: http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/

Review:
On January 31, 2003, I signed up for SBC Yahoo's MailPlus service and paid $59.99 for one year of an additional 100MB of mailbox space. I had the additional space for 2 months until, recently, when I went on line, I was back to the standard (free) 25MB. I called SBC Yahoo Tech Support to question why I no longer had my additional MB's and how to get the problem resolved. They said they didn't know why, couldn't fix it and suggested Billing might know. Billing said the same thing and said talk to Tech Support. I've spent a total of 4+ hours on the phone for the pastweek and a half getting bounced from dept to dept, with no one able to fix the problem. So I went on line and offically cancelled my MailPlus service. Now the problem is getting my money back. No one seems to know how to help with that either. Interesting.SBC Yahoo and their abilities to identify and resolve an issue is a sham. To add insult to injury, every department has you on hold "forever".

I wanted to post an updated comment since Yahoo finally deactivated the stolen account I complained I was SOL about. They didn't tell me they did this- I had to verify it on my own. It may very well be because it was a now illegal id, __Deric___ and they have been looking to get rid of these so they had an excuse. Anyhow, I'm glad at least nobody can impersonate me anymore and it's only fair that I make this known. However, I still have lost the account for good and my All Star subscription because I cannot remember the answer to a security question from 1998 even though I could do other things to verify I'm the owner if they allowed it.

Pros:
Cons:
Review:
I've had an account for five years that was stolen. I never responded to the hacked password forms in e-mail but someone finally tricked me by linking a faked login page on a geocities site to their yahoo messenger profile. The hacker changed my verification issue so now they have all of my e-mail since 1998 loaded with personal information, my year long All Star subscription and there is absolutely nothing Yahoo will do about it. I completely investigated, found out who, when, where, saved a copy of the hacked pages, sent them the three URLs involved and even a saved copy of the hacked web page itself. It apparently doesn't matter that I can prove it. It is completely sickening. I am going to do as someone said in these comments and get my All Star account refunded but now some stranger has all my mail... for good apparently. They haven't even stopped the creep from doing it. The profile is still hacked.

On Feb 24 i opted to upgrade from free service, to 25 mb. Coincidentally (?), about 2 days after that, i had problems sending mail -- when i sent an attachment AND a text letter, only the attachment went thru -- the letter i'd type was nowhere! And it continues to happen, despite emails to their so called "Help", and yes i get the usual form response which does not address my problem. So, i cxd my 25 mb upgrade back to free 4 mb, and tho i have less storage, i got a refund for the upgrade (less 30 some cents for the days i had the upgrade). Does anyone know why i'm having this problem? (i send an email w/message AND attachment, but only the attachment goes thru; note-if i send JUST a message w/no attachment, the message goes thru fine). Thanks, and I hope Yahoo spends my 30 cents wisely.

Yahoo is a bad dream all the way around. When people write about support, service, answers, help ,and attitude, a recent definition in Webster's might read..."the opposite of Yahoo" But if you like that sort of abuse, and upwards of 100 spams a day, and bugs in your mailbox, and no help what so ever...then definitely use Yahoo, after all they are a trough above the sty they call AOL.

So it was once free and now you have to pay for it, but that's if you want more space. I don't archive my files in my inbox on yahoo, and i delete the older ones, so it's still practically free. Besides unlike hotmail which de-activates your account after a month of inactivity, yahoo still let' you have it for inactivity greater than a month, in addition hotmail offers only 3MB of space while yahoo mail offers twice as much space of 6MB. Isn't it just typical of microsoft to charge for everything and not give you your moneys worth. Even if i had to pay to keep my service at yahoo, i wouldn't mind cos it offers a better service and has much more to offer than e-mail.

All they do is rediresct some (but definatly not all) spam to youre bulk mail folder. They don't actually do anything to stop spam from reaching youre inbox in the first place. Also features such as the abil, ity to block up to 100 email adresses and POP forewarding are now available only in the 'premium" (A.K.A. Vastly overpriced) version. In short, whil still marginally better then hotmail, I would never reccomend Yahoo mail to anyone. Use Lycos mail instead...

I got an auto reply from yahoo' email bot with giberish for an answer. The best thing I have to say about Yahoo compared to Hotmail is that there is NO ARCHIVING!!! Hotmail routinely sweeps your email and deletes or "archives" older and larger messages. I have lost SO MUCH mail this way in my Hotmail inbox! Whereas with Yahoo, I still have messages from 3 years ago in my inbox! It is left up to ME to decide if or when I delete them! Gives ME total control over what's in my mailbox! Yahoo also has a better SPAM filter than Hotmail. On average, I get about 5 times as much junk email or SPAM in my Hotmail inbox as I do in my Yahoo inbox. Yahoo is better all the way around!

I've been using Yahoo for over five years. It is continually improving its features and I have found it well worth the money to pay for upgrades. Yahoo! Mail Plus is the best web-based e-mail for the price and I don't mind paying for the extra storage space and ability to archive messages. BUT I can't upgrade to Yahoo! Plus because the Yahoo! Wallet database has been unavailable for days and there are not alternative billing options. Several months ago I had a similar problem with not being able to access my billing information when I tried to cancel an upgrade service that I no longer needed. Customer service is difficult to contact (you have to go through several layers in Yahoo! Help Center to even get to a contact form) and the first response is generally a form-reply that doesn't even address the problem submitted. The problems that I continue to experience with Yahoo! billing and customer service is leading me to look into another service.

The public definitely loves it as do I in the same manner of course because of how it is very easy to keep up with all of your messages. I definitely agree on how they have it well guarded and safely easy to use. It will be a turn of events that will embrace America and the world that shall come to thei natural senses in using the product. Like I said it is in demand and is highly rated in my book with a perfect 10!!!

I've been using Yahoo services since 1995 and I've been a happy camper since that time. I've had accounts with all the major web emailers including hotmail. Hotmail in my opinion should be called hotmale considering all the adult spam a person gets. Hotmail is poorly designed, its slow, the spam filtering is pathetic. There is a program now called Web2Pop that allows a person to retrieve webmail in Outlook! Which makes Yahoo Mail the best web mailer

I have used Yahoo ever since I wired myself to the internet. I find myself promoting Yahoo mail to a end user very quickly because of the features it has. But it does stink that they have started charging. I remember when Yahoo was about free, and not about making a dollar like some ISP's I know of, yet do not want to disclose...AAAAHHHHAOL chew, excuse me. But that's just my 2 cents, ain't worth anything now-a-days.

I've been using for quite a long time and i have to say that despite all the critics Yahoo! may receive, i just love it OK right adverts are everywhere!!! but: - who else proposes 4 Mo for the webmail nowadays? - i have never been conflicted to undesired mails with Yahoo! i'm not joking !! i just dont subcribe to newsletter or directories...On the other hand MSN is the junk webmail par excellence - With the Briefcase (drive.yahoo.com) you got your 30Mo for free...MSN...3Mo need to add something else? And for less than 35 bucks a year you got a real 130Mo Drive...go check the prices of XDrive or Oodrive...Yahoo's the best! - The big differnce maybe the effort Yahoo! provides to be the closest possible to its customers: easy to use and very complete. Who else proposes a service as complete as My Yahoo! (my.yahoo.com) ? Oh yeh you can put you poor 8 links in My MSN cool .... My Yahoo offers you 6 fully customizable web pages that can really turn in to a powerful tool...go check ContactOffice.com...see the differences...yahoo!'s the best office online you may find - From the powerful, customizable Messenger to the complete personal services (carrer, shopping, personals, groups...) Yahoo! s definitly my fav tool. WHAT WE DONT LIKE: - company based on using adverts to survive - the SBC service only avalaible in the USA..i'm French ! - When will a "Yahoo! Explorer" dethrone the the toy-like MSN Explorer?

I have used Yahoo since 1998. It does have the most features, but I now receive up to 50 spam a day. Their spam eliminator does not keep it out of your inbox, it just sits in another folder and takes up you 4MB Allowed space. If you have a problem, forget Yahoo customer service helping you out. They will just send you back an email that is a verbal run-around. At peak times of the day, the server slows down. This list is long on the negatives. I still use it but have not switched because the other "free" email providers are just as bad. Oh and I did not even get to mention the plethera of pop up ads!

Spam Filter Needs Improvementby - August 31, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review:
Spam filter works too well. It throws away almost anything, including personal emails and ones you opted in to receive. You have to write a filter for each source to make sure it gets routed to your inbox. Luckily I don't use Yahoo Mail for more than about 10 emailers. You can turn off the spam filter, but then you will get spam in your inbox. Also, it lacks options to delete mail from your Deleted Mail folder and spam folder at more frequent intervals to prevent your email account from exceeding the space limit. However, it is easily to occasionally manually delete those folders if you need to. (I don't get enough emails to ever exceed the space limit, so I haven't needed to yet, but I would like to have the Deleted Mail folder emptied every day. It's just a waste of space.)

Excelent e-mail with a small attachment problemby - August 25, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review:
Yahoo is very good. Especially with new JavaScript enhancements. Now it's pleasure to work with it even on a small screen (like my laptop's). However the old design bug/feature still remains unfixed. The attachment is limited by both size and number of files. Of course, multiple files can be zipped into one, but it's troublesome for beginning PC users. Another attachment feature, which would be good to have, is ability to attach files directly from Yahoo Briefcase. It would save a lot of uploading time for frequently sent files (such as resumes). Overall, Yahoo! e-mail complex is the best. Sincerely, Nick

Pros:
Cons:
Review:
Even if at first they give you 4 mbytes of mailbox space, this will grow to 6 mb of space after a year or so of constant usage, THREE times what hotmail gives you, and the spam protection facility is great, while hotmail's protection, even at the "high" level is almost nonexistent (i am flooded with spam at this level and the mailbox fills in 1...2 days), and the "exclusive" option being too restrictive (i don't receive any messages at this level, and i hate to fill an address book just IN CASE i receive email from certain addresses... and doing this for more than 5 addresses becomes annoying). Moreover yahoo's reporting links "this is spam"/"this is not spam" provide a great mechanism to assist them in doing this job. However, I quite miss the free pop3 access, but i can live without it...

For some reason, The more active of my two Yahoo mail accounts allows 6mb free storage?!?!?! Maybe because I was a beta tester? Ok, no complaints about the 2mb bonus. The only thing I would change is the ability to have folder filtering (rules) but what online service offers that anyway? The look is clean, the spam filter is excellent and my hotmail account sits dormant now collecting tons of spam! Yahoo for Yahoomail! So far, so good. One more thing; a mail alert program would be great. I dont want to use Yahoo Messenger just for that. Sorry, got my buddies on AIM. Thanks Yahoo.

They seem to have cleared up much of my spam problem. The new look is clean and easy to access features I use regularly. Just wish they would AUTOMATICALY DELETE emails with virus attachments. Also suggest they be able to BLOCK email with IP addresses from foreign countries. I now use my hotmail account for "required" spam purposes; i.e. websites requiring email addresses for access and info. Might as well use Hotmail for recieving spam because their internal spam blocking filters DO NOT WORK! I wonder if Microsoft isn't responsible for most of those spams to hotmail???

I've used yahoo for years, and while i've watched my friends slowly become engulfed in porn and other unsolicited e-mail, i've remained, mostly, spam free. Yahoo's new clean look is great, and i've never seen the site down. My one qualm is that the new version sends everything in HTML, and one is not able to send in text only. Its tolerable though, and its still a great service to the net.

I think Yahoo is a good mail server. I don't seem to get much spam. If I do it usually goes to the bulk mail folder. I've never used any otherfree internet mail service. But I'm pretty happy with Yahoo. The one change I don't like is the downsizing of free email storage space. Was at 6mb now it's down to 4mb. Even 4mb is pretty good for just sending and recieving emails. But my Yahoo account did get maxed a couple times with large picture files I had emailed myself. But Yahoo did give me extra space (went up to 4.5mb) to store the files. I'd say give it a shot. If you don't like Yahoo it's real easy to delete an account through the "Help" guide.

Well, it's the best I could find on the market, but still not the great one: -- SpamGuard filters approximately less than 20% of spam that comes to me. First I tried to report "this is spam", but it takes too much time: you must read the message before reporting it, though I tell that's spam just by sender and subject. -- You cannot export your whole folder into a file; -- No support for non-US customers, even those who paid. In my case, it's Russian code page support. All mail goes with "us-ascii" charset, and it makes crasy my fellows' Outlooks. The rest is fine, and nothing better is available by now.

Also I have registred to Hotmail, but again it was so f***ing slow and you have to wait ages before you get the chance to see one message even with a broadband connection (my guess is they are using win 2000 as a server

), plus the fact that you will recieve hundereds if not thousands of spam every month and you will spent most of your time deleting them!!!. With Yahoo Mail I know what really an email service is and very happy with it services, stability, speed, and spam guard. I have been a long time user of Yahoo Mail, I think I have had an account with them since 97. So I have seen the online client change over time. As an overall email program, it is something I would reccommend to my friends. I like the ability to check my mail from other POP servers. The 6 mb for those that have it when it was offered is incredible space for simple emails back and forth. Only problem I see is the security of the information you send out in an email. Yahoo sells information. You provide it, just be careful on what you provide and what you send. Its all I can say from my experience with Yahoo Mail.

I've been using Yahoo Mail as my primary email access since 1999. There's lots of ads, there are a few limitations, once in a while I've run into glitches, but overall I've been a very satisfied customer. My only real complaint is that on the very few occasions where I've attempted to use tech support, such as to report a problem, the response has been virutally nonexistent: I get an automated response that seems irrelevent to the message that I have submitted. But hey, it doesn't cost me anything to use, and the pros outwiegh the cons.

Review:
while there are many features of yahoo that i find superior to other web-based email (such as better & more accurate spam protection, and the feature that specifies an action taken on an email, such as forwarding or replying) these are features that existed prior to the "upgrade," and this "upgrade has resulted in problems viewing my inbox & have also brought to light yahoo's inferior customer service. my inbox page will load correctly, but then the screen is bizarrely distorted - with the bottom half of the screen appearing at the top, the ad being superimposed over this, and a row of messed up pixels across the middle. the only way to contact yahoo about this is to scroll through any number of FAQ solutions (none of which apply), then receive an automated response, which is equally unhelpful. after replying to these automated responses a number of times, each time, reexplaining the situation, i was unable to get anything from yahoo cust. svc. other than a message saying they had "checked my account," they had no problems with their servers & as far as they could tell, my acount was fine. i wrote back to tell them that, no, it wasn't & received the same response. i have now opened an account at hotmail & although i do receive unsolicited spam, when i contacted their customer service about it, received a very friendly, personalized response that at least let me know that a human being had read my message.

The re-design of Yahho! Mail makes it the best free web-based email on the web!by - August 8, 2002

The re-design of Yahho! Mail makes it the best free web-based email on the web! Ease of use and is very fast. Hotmail is lacking speed to their service and all the years I have been with Yahoo! Mail only a few times it has been slow. 9/10 Yahoo! Mail is only slow because of a server problem which is normally fixed in a 24 hour period. I'd recommend their service to anyone over any other free email service. As to a charge to view your email via Outlook etc is a bit harsh. I'm not sure how they operate this and if an ad still remains at the bottom of outgoing mail. If no ad than the charge is fine, if the ad remains than why charge really? Still #1 Web Mail today, and with the re-design they are defently well ahead of the rest. I bow to Yahoo!, a great job! I hope to see more updates in the not to near future.
