"Dollar for dollar, simply the best" on by jroddublr692000
Pros: 9-in-one card reader, DVD burner, fast processor
Cons: Lacking in RAM, dated case style
Summary: Dollar for dollar, this is one of the best PC's I can find. I purchased this during the Xmas rush of 2006, simply because of the price coupled with the fact that it had a DVD burner and a card reader. Retail, I paid less than $400 for this unit. As part of the promo, Best Buy/eMachines offered a Vista upgrade which I never received because of a deployment. I am satisfied with the XP edition pre-installed, as I use my machines for internet/home security/office productivity. With only 512mb RAM included, the first order of business was to upgrade to 2gb, a simple $100 fix, and well worth it. You will not find a better machine than this for less than $500.

"I love the computer but customer service is horrible" on by steven.glickman
Pros: Fast, quiet workhorse
Cons: Emachines/gateway terrible customer service beware
Summary: EMACHINES
My compaint is about Emachines. I was promised a full upgrade to Vista upon purchasing my Emachine Future Shop. I when to their website to fill in the appropriate form etc... When I check on its status online, it now says that my number is no longer in their system. Numerous...... and I mean numerous emails to them have either yielded a form letter requesting a store recipt (which I have faxes, emailed etc... many times) or no response at all. I suggest if you are int he market of buying a computer you skip on Emachine as their customer support is nearly non-existant. -
"Good for the price." on by moose1459
Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: Not enough memory
Summary: This computer is good for anyone who wants a computer that is easy to use and not that expensive.
Updated
I added 1 gig of memory to my T5048 and this gives me enough memory to play almost any game, and that was the only problem I saw with this computer I think 9 of 10 people will have no problem with any program if they do this simple upgrade you can get the memory for about $100 on line, you will pay more in the store. -
"it can do it all and then some" on by IAmNick
Pros: Very Fast computer
Cons: 512 mb mem; should upgrade
Summary: This computer is by far the best computer i have ever used. i have owned 2 compaqs, 1 HP, and 1 Dell, and so far this is the only computer that i have liked ever since my Dell. HP is crap and breaks; needles to say we still have all other computers but the HP. it lasted about 4 years. I however was given the T5048A model of the computer when i though was getting the T5048. Check your model number because the specs are so much different but way better. this computer has a 3.0ghz p4HT 603 processor with 800mhz FSB. uses DDR2 mem and has 2mb of L2 cashe. this computer funs all my new games i just bought flawlessley; even with with stock ATI card. i added more memory to it and that was just over 80 bucks but well worth it. i write music and have various program to do so on the comptuer. converts files very fast and with photoshop i have no problems using even before i added the extra 512mb of mem. overall for the price i would recomend this comptuer to anyone. My cmoptuers fan was never loud out of the box and i also think that returning a comptuer for that as a problem is kinda dumb.
