"Excellent Value"
Pros: Value, PCI-E x16, AMD 64, 1gb RAM, 200gb HD
Cons: No Firewire, no second CD drive, no driver CD
Summary: I've always liked eMachines because of their vaule. You would be hard-pressed to be able to find another manufacture that could give you the same amount of quality equipment for such amazingly low prices. The T6420 is a great entry-level PC and has a lot of room for expansion, which is great for the future. The best thing about this system is that it has a PCI-E x16 slot for the newer graphic cards. The AMD 64 3400+, 1gb RAM and 200gb hard drive space is just the icing on the cake. But there are room for improvement on this PC. I really wish there was a firewire port, that should be standard period. I had to go out and spend some extra money to buy a firewire card. On top of that, there is only one DVD/CD rom drive, where's the second one?? Lastly, emachines hide their drivers in the hard drive, in which you have to copy only after reading the startup guide do you realize that you have to do this. This was a real big problem for me because the first time I bought this computer I immediately reformatted it, so I could partition my drives (I always do this win I get a new computer), so not realizing that I was suppose to burn the drivers on CD or DVD I lost all of it. I email eMachines and they told me they didn't have the drivers for me to download or to mail to me. So I had to go back to CompUSA and exchange it for another, which really ticked me off. So BEWARE and burn the drivers before you format, if you are planning to do that. I thought it was kind of stupid that they didn't give you any hint that you are suppose to do that in Windows XP, but you have to read the startup guide. I mean, I am not a beginner when it comes to computers, why would I need to read the startup guide? But anyways, great computer, once you know all the little gripes about it; you learn to love it after it's all out.
