If you're one of thousands who bought a new computer that runs Windows XP (or installed the operating system on an existing machine), be forewarned: Very few MP3 players are currently compatible with Microsoft's latest OS. Why is that? Well, some manufacturers claim that Microsoft dragged its feet on releasing the Software Developer's Kit (SDK) for the OS, so these companies have been slow to release XP device drivers. Whatever the excuse, if you're running XP, here are your current MP3 options. We'll update this page as more choices become available, so subscribe to the MP3 Insider newsletter to learn when we've changed the list.
Note: Since MP3 CD players--both those with and without FM tuners--don't connect to your PC via USB, they are all compatible with Windows XP.
