Pros: Easy to use, just plug it in the USB port; portable with a laptop; an input for headphones on the front; handy volume control wheel; booming bass (if you're into that sort of thing).

"A good first step" on
Pros: Sound is MUCH better than my integrated laptop audio (IBM T40). Easy to setup and use. NOTE: I'm using it exclusively with headphones
Cons: Sound is not quite high-end quality. Seems a bit unclear in the midrange. Highs may be a bit overstated. I desire a true audiophile sound card, but can't afford one, and this seems like a decent start.
