"Rough start but great support"
Summary: Connection of the HiFi-Link was a snap. When I first listened to it there was considerable 'popping' and some background humming. A series of quickly answered e-mails from Xitel indicated two problems. 1) Windows XP needs to be upgraded to XP-SP1. I performed the upgrade and it cured the 'popping' problem instantly. Xitel also recommended another Microsoft Messenger patch to deal with audio problems but I've yet to install that one. 2) The humming was a ground loop issue that they sent me information on fixing the problem. After the initial rough start, I was ready to send the unit back for a refund. Fortunately, I rose above my disappointment and decided to give Xitel Tech Support a shot. In less than 24 hours, they had solved all of my installation problems. AND the product does sound good!
