Pros: You get everything you need to start up, including good-grade cabling and PowerDVD software. The unit itself has both digital outputs (coax/optical) and analogue (RCA) - all outputting simultaneously. This unit has never failed me and has worked wonders

"Excellent for Optical Out to Home Theater Amp"
Pros: You get a 30ft digital optical, 30ft digital coaxial and 30ft stereo rca cable plus the Link - all for the price of just what a 30ft optical cable would cost. I use the 30ft optical out to a Yamaha DSP-A1 and the sound is excellent. Installation is easy
Cons: The 2 rca analog outs are not suitable for (Sony 7506) direct headphone use as there is no/little bass despite seeming to have plenty of drive (I even tried using a headphone volume control to reduce the level since it was so loud). Xitel tech support sa

"A pure digital connection from PC to Stero"
Pros: Optical Input to Reciever has no galvanic connection therefore 0 sound quality degradation and no interference is introduced to the signal.
Cons: If USB bus gets saturated music steam might cut out. I have mine on an dedicated server and avoid this
