"Good Harddrive in bad packaging (including tech support)"
Pros: Easy to use as USB drive or Network drive after installing NetDisk software
Cons: Software needs to be installed to access drive across the network. Harddisk more prone to failure than any thing seen in the industry.
Summary: This is a good stuff that comes in bad packaging. The good stuff is obviously the hard drive with 160GB of disk space. The bad stuff is the enclosure, which encloses it and the people who supports it.
I got my NetDisk last year and after sometime it started becoming slower and slower and developing corruption. When I contacted the support, they would attribute the failure of NetDisk to the disk drive inside it. Their response was Netdisk part is OK. Its the IDE hard drive inside it which has problem and NetDisk controller has no role in it. Can you be really sure of this? They offered me with an instruction to replace the disk, but I have to buy my own disk because I reported the problem about a month after purchase date anniversary. I bought NetDisk as it sounded good as Network drive, but now I would rather stick to some USB drive for backup and data storage. The NetDisk's risk of data corruption is VERY HIGH.
