"Crapped out at just over a year."
Pros: none. Serves no purpose if it can be relied upon.
Cons: When you put your photoes and tunes on a harddrive you expect it to last several years and provide some warning before it craps out. Tech support was happy to let me know it was off warranty.

Pros: This unit does everything it claims and the bundled software is great. I use it to backup my hard drive and I feel secure that if my hard drive crashes, I can put in a new one and restore everything to it, including the OS, with my Acomdata E5.
Cons: Using the software to backup your systems is not exactly intuitive. It took some trial and error and re-reading the manual to complete the backup. I am not the most computer literate person but I'm also not a newb. It should be more clear.

"There's a WD inside = horrific"
Pros: Cheap, matches my PowerBook G4, easy to open and void warranty
Cons: A bit noisy (because it's a WD inside), rather slow transfer rates (because it's a WD inside, if they put a shiny new seagate in the thing would fly), casing acts as giant heatsink
