"Software is worthless, transfer seems a bit slow"
Pros: its basic design works, it is shared and on the network
Cons: Software is worthless, transfer seems a bit slow
Summary: The software is useless. I've confirmed with their tech support that it can't log into password protected files, can't work with anything over 4 gigs, and for me it crashes frequently - in fact I've never gotten it to work for a full backup, only a few files. I also think it chokes with any powermanagement stuff in windows, and frankly, as a programmer, I could have designed and written a better program in a couple days.
Occasionally in WindowsXP it appears that the OS can't access the shared folders.
There's not a whole lot of maleability in setup of folders as suggested in the docs and ads for the device.
If you have really simple needs and just need, say a folder sitting on the network that you can dump stuff into...then this would be an o.k. solution. Otherwise I would look towards more sophisticated designs such as snap servers...although the price goes way up, and honestly I've never worked with anything else, only read about them.
