"The most useful home network device I've ever seen!"
Pros: Provides a central point to back up your PC's
Cons: The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't turn itself back on when the drive is unplugged, you have to manually turn it back on.
Summary: This has to be my most worth-while network investment ever! I use this drive as a central location for all my computers to back themselves up to. Running Norton Ghost, my computers backup their documents and crucial files daily, and they do a complete image of the hard drive once a month. So if anything happens to a computer, I have a complete backup that's less than a month old, and a documents and settings backup that was likely only one day old.
I've also set up a Copy To Desktop folder on the drive that each of my computers checks for files when it starts up. So if you want to copy files to another computer's desktop and the computer's not on, you just put the files in that folder on the Linkstation, and the computer will move it to the desktop on startup.
And the power saving and sleep functions on this are very useful, so you don't have to worry about turning it on and off, or leaving it on all the time. The only bad thing is that the power management doesn't turn the drive back on after there's been a blackout, or the drive was unplugged, you have to manually turn it back on. But that's a real insignificant problem when you compare it with all the great features the Linkstation offers.
