"Nice drive but so HOT!!" on by CaptBill33040

Pros: Nice small handy form-factor. Good style. Quiet operation. Fast response (read/write).

Cons: Too bright light. Too hot!

Summary: This is my second iomega eGo drive. The other was a 320GB silver USB unit with a small blue indicator light. That unit worked fine and stayed cool and the blue light was not objectionable at all. This 250GB white USB/FW400/FW800 unit performs OK but stays very hot all the time and the indicator light is a white led that I can't look at directly without considerable eye pain. I'm considering removing it so I can install it on my motorcycle for an auxiliary driving light. It's one of those "What were they thinking?" things. The heat this thing dissipates will surely make short work of my MacBook battery if I could not plug in.

    "GREAT DRIVE" on by BobMcC3

Pros: easy to use works well with Mac Time Machine

    Cons: so far,none

Summary: I originally bought a G-Technology 320GB G-DRIVE mini and it was dead right out of the box. The Iomega worked well right away. No problems.

"Good drive but gets very hot." on by edwernecke

Pros: I have the iomega Ruby Red 500 GB Mac Edition. Nice small case that actually fits into a shirt pocket.

Cons: Problem is it gets really hot to the touch and has nothing to turn it off without unplugging it. Blue light is obnoxious when not in use. Case is very slippery. Could not get a response from Iomega by email or web site.

Summary: Because it gets so hot it would be nice if it came with some sort of vertical stand to dissipate the heat. One of the few drives to come with Firewire 400, 800, and USB for the Mac or PC. A good sturdy drive.
