Pros: Fine until it wasn't.
Cons: Ridiculous overheating problem. Top cover actually pulls away from the unit. Valuable iMovies lost when it just died after maybe 20 hours of being plugged in over 9 months.
Summary: I bought 2 of these a year ago, to use 1 at a time for Time Machine backups and iMovie storage. I only recently started using the second one because the first one went belly-up, taking taking 6 months of video of my newborn twins with it. I just spent $550 on data retrieval.
As is often the case here on CNET, the "expert" reviews can't possibly take into consideration actual USE by actual PEOPLE over an actual period of TIME. The unit literally gets so hot you can't hold it. Also, the top cover simply lifts off the unit, because the glue from the DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE that holds it on MELTS. Not a fluke; true of BOTH units I bought.
