"Not really as good as it seems."
Pros: External, large storage.
Cons: Slow, not Media Center Compatable according to a senior tech at Maxtor!
Summary: I bought this as an external drive solution for my PC. I spent an hour or so trying to get it configured and I kept getting a "Runtime Error" I called Maxtor and spoke to a person who seemed very unsure of herself and I asked to be transferred to a senior tech. After several minutes I was told that this drive would not work with Windows XP Media Center?
I asked why this info was not made available to the customer and I was told they were working on that? WOW this OS has been out for over 2 years at least? I was told that it was the Microsoft Frame Work update was the problem.(which is in the main Microsoft Update site).
After I was told that the backup software would not work I decided to un-install the Frame Work Update and install the software for the drive and then re-install Frame Work and voila. I fixed it and it worked great. I did find out however that the drive is slow because It was set to USB 2.0 and it is not as fast as an internal drive. I also felt that Maxtor passed the buck, blamed Microsoft and was not even able to fix it as I did, and I am by no way a tech. My advice... look else ware.. Tech support seems inadequate. Buggy software.
