"It would be perfect but..."
Pros: Capacity, warranty, Firewire, form factor...
Cons: Power switch is non-functional...sampled 3, all the same.
Summary: I so wanted this H/D to work, it had the right capacity, it was firewire, the Seagate 5 year warranty, and it has a kind of homely cache to its look. I liked it a lot. But. The power switch is not a positive style switch like a rocker or a sliding on-off...rather it is a touch-sensitive spot on the base. And it simply doesn't work. I tried three different drives from the local Costco store and gave up. I am hugely disappointed and were it not for this dysfunctional power switch I would own two or three of these drives. Seagate...please change the switch!!!

You should hold your finger on the power button for 3 seconds to turn it off. I guess they made it that way so the hardrive wouldn't shut down by accidental touch.
