"Too many problems"
Pros: Very fast USB drive; lots of storage; good price.
Cons: Doesn't play nice with I-tunes. Horrible tech support.
Summary: I purchased this drive because it was on sale at Best Buy and my Western Electric external drive was dying after a little more than 18 months of use. I need to keep my files on an external drive because the hard drive on my computer is too small. I was happy with the drive for about 1 day then started to have problems. Problem 1: After I power down my computer the Seagate drive shuts down, but when I come home hours later the drive will be powered up again even though the computer is still off. Tech support had no explanation and suggested I unplug the drive. Problem 2: Every time I power down the computer when I power back up again I-tunes can no longer find the songs in my library and I have to recreate the library by switching the location to a different drive so the files all refresh, then switching the location back to the Seagate. This happens every time the computer powers down and if i don't recreate the library by switching drives back and forth I-tunes can't find any of my songs. Tech support has no explanation for this either and claims it's an I-tunes issue. I've always kept my I-tunes music on an external drive and never had any kind of problem like this before. Tech support via e-mail responds quickly but the responses are not helpful at all and give the impression that questions are being answered by people who don't speak English and don't know anything about computers or the specific Seagate product. I am extremely unhappy with this drive and will need to replace it with a model by a different company ASAP. AVOID!!!
