"Excellent hard drive works as promised!!!"
Pros: Attractive design and build quality, good software included
Cons: Software is pre-installed, no install cd included
Summary: This is an excellent hard drive. It does not take up much space on the desktop. The pics do not do this drive justice. It is a beautiful piece of equipment. The black brused metal design with amber light is very appealing. I did not buy this based on it's looks but is a plus. This drive is well built and very sturdy. It gets a bit warm but not hot at all so you don't have to worry about it burning up. It seems to make no sound at all. I highly recommend this hard drive for anyone needing backup and or extra storage.
I only have one real complaint which I do not blame on Seagate or this drive. I am running Win Vista Ultimate on my pc (upgraded from XP). I am using the USB connection and had a hard time installing the drive. I blame my pc and Vista for this. Most of the time things work well but have been having some trouble since installing Vista on my pc which is a late 2005 model HP Media Center. I had to keep rebooting the pc and connecting and disconnecting the drive to finally get my pc to recognize it. I have this problem with other USB devices as well. I did try connecting this drive to a pc running xp because I thought my drive was defective. The software started to load as soon as I plugged it in. It installed with no problem. That being said, I do not regret my purchase one bit. I believe this is an excellent product and I highly recommend it.
