  • "WD MyBook 2TB Very Temperamental and Will Self-Destruct"
    0.5 stars
    on by MikePS1

Pros: A hard drive should perform one thing without fear... store your data that you know you can access at any time. Nothing else matters if you can't retrieve your data.

Cons: Very temperamental and unstable. Your data will be at risk. Thus, there's no point in purchasing this product.

Summary: Despite minimal use, my MyBook 2TB self-destructed after I tried to access it when my laptop was woken from sleep mode. Apparently, it is common for WD drives to mess with their partitioning when not properly shut down. So, if a laptop goes into sleep mode or you have to force it to shut down, you risk the My Book self-destructing? I can't access my data and now have to spend $500 to $2000 to recover it. THINK TWICE BEFORE PURCHASING ANY WD PRODUCT. HEED THE WARNING OF ALL THE BAD REVIEWS ON CNET> THEY'RE THERE FOR A REASON!!!
