"WD MyBook Is Very Temperamental and Unstable"
0.5 starson by MikePS1Pros: None. The most important thing a drive should do is protect your data. This drive is very temperamental and unstable.
Cons: You will lose your data. It's only a matter of time.
Summary: Despite minimal use, my MyBook 2TB self-destructed after I tried to access it when my laptop was woken from sleep mode. Apparently, it is common for WD drives to mess with their partitioning when not properly shut down. So, if a laptop goes into sleep mode or you have to force it to shut down, you risk the My Book self-destructing? I can't access my data and now have to spend $500 to $2000 to recover it. THINK TWICE BEFORE PURCHASING ANY WD PRODUCT. HEED THE WARNING OF ALL THE BAD REVIEWS ON CNET> THEY'RE THERE FOR A REASON!!!

I've experienced similar problems with my "MyBook" from time to time. The problem usually occurs if I boot my PC with the "MyBook" attached, if I plug it in post boot it is fine. Fortunately I have always managed to recover the data quite easily using recovery tools. It's bloody annoying though.
