Segment-defying cars come out this fall, along with a new dedicated hybrid and a new generation of a much-anticipated sports car from Audi. The Porsche Panamera and Acura ZDX both feature their respective manufacturers' latest cabin tech, and designs that might have a tough time finding fans. Lexus adds a new hybrid to its mix, a luxury version of the Toyota Prius, while Audi delivers a new version of its S4, a sport model based on the A4 sedan.

The outlook: Acura showed off this odd-looking crossover at the New York auto show this year. A mix between an SUV and a sedan, it expands Acura's model lineup in an interesting direction. The cabin gets Acura's latest raft of gadgets, which we previously saw in the new Acura TL and include hard drive-based navigation with weather and traffic. Expect the ZDX to also have interesting driver aid technology.
