"A better second choice monitor." on by GALiban
Pros: Lots of features for not a lot of money. Glossy frame looks nice.
Cons: No adjustment for height or angle on the stand. Extremely difficult to adjust for a proper picture. Characters are fuzzy and the refresh rate does not go above 30 Hz unless I reduce the desktop size to 1280 x 768. Controls are awkward.
Summary: Pay an extra hundred dollars and purchase a monitor that has better quality all around. This monitor forces you to make too many adjustments that a better quality monitor does not need. Both Vista and the ATI Radeon HD 4870 seem to stumble when trying to adjust the image. If you want to adjust the height of the monitor, then put a book underneath it as there is no way to adjust the height. Let me reemphasize that the characters are fuzzy. Controls for the monitor are located underneath the monitor with no symbols on the front for function hints. I run dual displays and the ViewSonic is distinctly better.

"Too many negatives to offset the positives" on by RickCain4150
Pros: Inexpensive. Basic black with narrow edges. Brightness is good, comes with a lot of inputs.
Cons: Picked this up for $219 on special, but found the quality to be lacking. Picture is fuzzy, and internal speakers blew out within a week.
Summary: A disappointment. While its stated resolution is 1680 x 1050 it fares poorly in resolution, and if you want to use it as a computer monitor it is inadequate. Internal speakers are tinny and weak, and they blew out under normal listening conditions.
Remote does not light up, it has tiny buttons and the channel changing is dreadfully slow. If you want to use this as a television, invest in some external speakers. Colors need to be tweaked as the defaults make for a washed out picture. -
"Still having a problem with picture aspect ratios" on by MikeRivers
Pros: Hard to beat the price, decent color, good over-the-air sensitivity, flexible inputs.
Cons: I'm having a problem with the aspect ratio on some (mostly the major network) channels. The picture is squeezed horizontally so that circles become vertical ovals and everyone is a bit thinner than normal. No choice of Zoom makes it right.
Summary: It's possible that my set is broken, but it's difficult to tell as I'm using an over-the-air digital signal and the only dealers who have this set on display only have cable or a direct video feed. I haven't tried exchanging it for another of the same model yet. If this is just the way it is, I'm going to return it and stop watching TV.
The remote needs to be aimed more accurately than the one on my 25 year old Zenith TV that's still going strong (with a digital converter).
I really want to like this set, but I won't watch a picture that's not correctly proportioned.
