Pros Deep in Features
Cons Remote is weak
Summary Let me first say that this is the first review that I have done for any product. I like reading other reviews online, but never write any...until now.
I did my homework when buying this TV, reading reviews, opinions, checking features and comparing prices. I settled upon the Dell due to the competitive price and the number of features available. For instance, it has two TV tuners so you can watch two programs (games) at the same time. It also has two HDMI inputs and an input for PC's, where other TV's did not. Additionally, the TV came with Speakers (where some for a similar price do not).
The picture is great and I found the blacks fine. I'm sure that other TV's are on par (or may even be a bit better, but they cost 25% more...).
Upon reading other's reviews, the one thing people said is Dell is great...until you have a problem as customer service is not good. Basically, you have 21 days and if the TV goes bad you get a new one; after 21 days you get a refurbished unit (for the next year). Let me tell you about my experience....I rec'd the TV from dell and their delievery partner (whom were very professional and communicated well). Everything worked and look great until I tried wiring my theatre surround sound. I did something (still don't know what...) and blew the sound on the TV. I called technical support 20 days after receipt and expected to wait on hold 2-3 hours before speaking with someone live.
After a 5 second wait, a Dell technical guy picked up (not some dude in India either) and bottomline, said that Dell would replace my unit, no questions asked, and shipped out a new one. 5 days later it arrived with a technician at no cost to me to install and remove the old one. Amazing service, and somewhat unexpected from Dell.
I am a dell computer user and have found their products good and their support horrible. This experience changed my mind on their service.
The new one looks great and works fine. The speakers are loud and have good base. Importantly the TV is stylish and I really like the black inner trim and the silver outter lining.
The only thing that could be improved is the the remote. The buttons can stick are are not best, but all things said, I am a very happy customer and will continue to be a Dell guy for a long while.
Pros thin profile
Cons price isn't unbelievable
Summary Lemme get this straight: you can get the Sony 60" XBR that is CNet's highest rated TV at 8.8, get it from Pricegrabber.com for $500 less than this Dell, but this is a good deal??! The Sony is 10", has better resolution at 1900x1280 and costs less, with better customer service, the only drawback I see is that it is around 16" thick. Did I mention that Dell wasn't even in the TV market a year ago?
