  • "Terrible rendering of black"

    Pros: Otherwise good Dell service

Cons: The rendering of very dark and black screens is absolutely terrible.

Summary: I'm on my second one of these units. When using component video on the first one, there were green bars of fuzz traveling up the screen on dark screens. It was so bad I had to switch to s-video to avoid it. I finally got tired of it and phoned Dell. To their credit, they didn't even ask me to troubleshoot it. They had a replacement shipped out immediately. Upon getting the replacement hooked up, same problem. I'll probably just live with this one. I'm tired of messing w/ Dell.

On a more positive note, I now have two Sharp Aquos LCD's in the house as well. Hands down, a much better TV.

I also went through two of these units, and I actually ended up returning both to Dell and getting my money back. The quality of the picture in dark scenes is absoloutely horrible, and almost unwatchable through the HDMI input. I now have a Sony LCD projection set and couldn't be happier - the picture quality is awesome, and the price was over a $1000 cheaper.

I too am on my second one with the same problems. I am actually connected through HDMI and it seems to be worse!! I think Dell has a major production issue that needs to be addressed.
