Pros nice screen
Cons Loud buzzing cannot hear what is being said. Fortunate for company that problems begin shortlyn after warranty runs out. Paid $500.00 for TV & now I am without & since I'm on limited income cannot afford to buy another. Thanks for crappy product!
Summary Never buy this product again!
Pros It was cheap, I walked into the store and said I have $500 dollars to spend, I want the largest screen I can get for that amount of money.
Cons It BLEW up and died. Apparently from what I've read on-line they all do.
Summary Years ago I bought a T.V. and I researched it all out using Consumer Reports, did my home work and bought a Zenith. My parents had had T.V.'s that lasted 20+ years so operating under the delusion that there was still such a thing as a quality T.V. I paid $550 for a 25" Zenith and two years later it died.
Mind you, at the time I didn't have kids and both my wife and I worked so this thing was used a quarter of what could be considered "normal" use. When I called Zenith all they would say was "did you buy the warranty, you should've bought the warranty."
FINE ! So fast forward 15 years, now everything I buy is complete crap, I get the biggest and or the cheapest and I spend my savings on the warranty. That's what I did with my CRAP DYNEX flatscreen and it's a good thing I did. 13 months after I bought it it is D.O.A. But, as I laughed to myself thinking of my 4 year warranty, hold on because you still don't get off scott free.
So first I make the mistake of disconnecting it and taking it back to Best Buy but "they don't repair the big one's at the store (Geek Squad) you have to call and someone comes to your home." But it's here now I protest !? No matter, so I take it home, FINE ! Call the 800 number, they collect all the info and when it's time to schedule the repair well, well, what do you know . . . we don't have anything for two weeks. Really ? FINE !
So (and will I ever learn ?) I research on the web and it seems like the power supply blew so I tell them that so now, two weeks later, the dude is at my house and I **** you not, he was the spitting image of Mr. Spock and I don't say that to be racist, I was literally looking at his ears to see if they were pointed, they weren't, but still total trip !
He was a nice guy and first he has to check and see if I had it plugged in (hullo ?) which I did so he takes it apart, replace the power supply and guess what !?!?!? It was the main board, the power supply wasn't the problem.
Now of course this is costing them out the wazzoo so on the one hand I'm laughing, hahaha Best Buy, your cheap as **** product is costing you a fortune but once he decides it the main board do ya think he had one of those on his truck ? Hell no ! So it had to be shipped from the main office in Milwaukee or someplace, who knows ?
Why is it in Milwaukee, everything on the T.V. is from China !
L.A. / Long Beach; the largest west coast deep water port is 7 hours away, wouldn't you think the D.C. would be out west ? If you like me think that sounds reasonable YOU'D BE WRONG !
Best Buy gets their parts from China and then promptly ships them to the middle of the country where they can THEN ship them back to the west coast to what is probably their largest market. Probably one of the largest consumer electronics markets IN THE WORLD !
When, pray tell Mr. Spock do you logically think you could get the part and beam back up to the U.S.S. Enterprise with the new dilithium main board for the photon torpedos ?
Great, so now I'm 3+ weeks without a set, and of course that Comcast bill is going to arrive rain or shine, illogical as it may seem I will still be paying for a month of T.V. I didn't get to watch.
But whatever, $100 bucks to Comcast is less than the $500 I'd have had to turn around and give Best Buy for another hunk of **** flat screen so as much as it hurts me, I take HUGE personal satisfaction in knowing that !
What is the moral of this story you ask, and while we're at it might I ask what you're doing still reading this diatribe ? The moral is Best Buy makes crappy products, and their house brands are made in the same factory as all the other crappy consumer electronics. Sure, maybe the name brands have slightly better components but do you really want to roll the dice ? Recall my Zenith "Quality goes in before the picture goes on." NOT ! So if you like me are totally jaded and believe there is no such thing as quality, for the love of God buy the warranty, yes, you might miss a couple weeks of programming but at least you'll fall asleep at night knowing that you unlike the other poor sap who didn't get the warranty you get to shove your junk product right up Best Buys ass !
And who knows, you might just get a visit from Mister Spock !
Pros this tv has a great picture and was an upgrade for my bedroom. I have at&t u-verse connected to hdmi. purchased at best bu for 399 brand new! excellent sound too.
Cons needs a swivel stand, especially for a 37in imo. noticed the remote doesn't work well when standing extremely close to the tv but the buttons on the side of the set make up for that.
Summary the quality and inexpensive price tag allowed me to purchase a two year black tie warranty and high quality hdmi cable from best buy for just under $500. satisfied customer.
