"Well Designed Television" on
Pros: Overall, Impressive Picture. Built in speakers are fine for most broadcast sources, and make this TV a good stand alone replacement without a whole home theater setup. Most up to date connections and features make it flexible for HT setups and should p
Cons: Digital Cablecard tuner kinda slow on channel changes(this is reported with some settop boxes too, though). Wall mount settups will loose the neat power swivel feature. Pricey.

"not impressed by expensive product" on by goodall5
Pros: swivel stand is great for angling TV
Cons: too much money for the quality of TV
Summary: Purchased this TV in April 2005 and paid $6000 Canadian Dollars. In April 2007 the picture digital soundboard needed to be replaced. We had horrific colour where greens were blues and pinks were red and sometimes all we got was black and white. Wasn't covered under warrany and Hitachi refused to cover the charges. Their customer service department was a nightmare and I felt like I was speaking to a high school student. Person had no knowledge of customer satisfaction and in fact for every question I asked I was told "can't answer that." Will not buy another Hitachi product.

Pros: Great picture, more features than you will know what to do with
Cons: It makes you want to watch more TV
Summary: I bought this TV last month to hang in my living room, I have to tell you I was and continue to be amazed by it every time I turn it on! Setup was very simple, it took 15 minutes to get it out of the box, hooked up and watching HDTV.
The motorized base was very cool and useful before I hung it on the wall.
I love the PIP/POP! I use it as my computer monitor as well, and with split screen capability, you can watch live HDTV and see your computer screen perfectly from across the room. I have a Mac Mini hooked into it now which handles the display much better than a PC I hooked up to it as a test.
The manual says that the HDMI inputs should not be used for computer sources, but I have the Mac hooked up with a DVI to HDMI cable with no problems. Hooking it up through the VGA port was not something I would recommend.
If you are interested in this TV, look at http://www.uecweb.com they were almost $400 cheaper after shipping!
