"This TV can be a Fire Hazard"
Pros: Picture quality OK, many adjustments to fine tune to specific types of HD programs IE sports, movies, etc
Cons: A circuit board failure on the AC side caused a flame and smoke to burst from the side
Summary: I am having warranty issues with Hitachi Re the fire hazard and the premature failure of this circuit board. A very expensive fix(approx $600.00) for a unit that is just over 3 yrs old. They are obviously aware of the problem as they have upgraded this particular circuit board. The Hitachi service technician who fixed the problem had the parts "in stock" in a small shop. He indicaed he has changed a few of these boards already that's why he had the kit. This Hitachi TV needs to have an immediate recall issued as the flame, heat and smoke could have caused a serious fire if near something flammable(like curtains, etc)
