"Good TV, but media streaming weak" on by sswingle

Cons: Lack of support for TS files, 1080p streaming non existant
Summary: Overall I really like this set. As far as a TV or monitor goes, it might be one of the best I have seen. The ATSC tuner in it gives me the best reception from other tuners as well.
The main downfall to the system is streaming media. The TV manual claims that it can play back .TS files (raw HD stream) However, there is no way to actually get these files to the TV with the included software because WMP11 rufeses to share them. Therefore the files need to be converted to MPG.
The other drawback was found when trying to play a 1080p MPG file. Downloaded the file to test out the system and the file itself was only a minute long at 200 MB, but the TV couldnt play it. It would pause about half the time trying to catch up. This was over the wired network connection. Over wireless the TV would not even try to play the file.
Playing back a 1080i file did work however. The test was a longer video,about 3 min at 500 mb, and playback was perfect. Considering that broadcast sources are all 1080i and not p is ok for now, but it is dissapointing knowing that 1080p will never work on this set as far as streaming is concerned.
