"After a long and painful search, this was the best value LCD in this size range"
Pros: Fast image refresh, means less pixelation and flicker for fast motion. Simple remote with intuitive features
Cons: So-so deep blacks
Summary: In my quest for the best value LCD I finally found "the one"! At Video Only, I could view 'the finalists' (Sharp, Toshiba, JVC) side by side: I messed with the remotes to set all of them to my liking, and it was very clear JVC produced the best images with fast motion. Realistically, every LCD screen produces a decent static image and with respect to sound, most of us will hook up to a surround system, so who cares about built in speakers. So the deal breaker was pixelation and 'fuzz' during a sports broadcast; and this is where they shine! I would agree Aquos delivers slightly darker blacks, but not so much that I was willing to compromise fast motion image quality.
I only gave the JVC an '8' because there were better systems, but at twice the cost it wasn't worth it. For $1000, this was a no brainer for those who want to see decent football and man, did I mention how great this is connected to my xbox360? Don't sit too close!
