"I took my time to do my research and this was the one hands down"
Pros: Amazing picture - no blurring - great color / black level (countless side by side comparisons) - a ton of ports - no distortion / fade / glare with various viewing angles - SD channels crisp
Cons: You will read that the colors out of the box need a lot of tweaking so there may be something to that but I didn't have that issue
Summary: There really aren't a lot of reviews on this set that I found when I was looking to purchase so I thought I would do my best to break down why I chose this over the others.
Like most of you taking the time to read this review I did a lot of research on LCD's before I made this purchase. I had narrowed my decision down to the 47LBX, the Samsung and Sony comparable models and the LBX won out.
I won't spend much time on the looks but it's a great looking TV. If you don't have this wall mounted the stand will swivel about 30 degrees in either direction so no matter where you place your set and are situated in your room you can easily rotate it for the best viewing angle... but regardless - the image is just as clean at any sitting position.
In my research I was able to set up sets side by side and compare pictures. Everybody is different - some like warm - some like true but for me there was a noticeable difference between the quality of the LG picture compared to the rest (at the same settings). The one thing that absolutely stood out was the true black that the LG puts out as opposed to the gray fuzzy blackish (very technical talk I know) I experienced from other sets. The picture on Standard Definition channels are better than any other set - it's not close. The HD picture is unbelievable and the picture for Blu-Ray is on it's own planet. PS3 / gamers - this set is unreal - a whole new experience.
I'm sure you will go over the specs but that said, ports are important to a lot of people and this has them - a lot of them - 3 HDMI for instance. I find the menu / setup on the set to be very easy to use to adjust contrast / tint etc if you choose to do so. I sit about 10 feet away and the size is perfect. I didn't want to feel like I was sitting in IMAX but by no means will you need to pull up your chair... anything bigger would be too much.
Since my purchase I contine to read reviews on this just to get "expert" takes on this as well as my fellow consumers opinions. The biggest knock I've seen is that a lot of adjustments need to be made to the picture to get anything remotely close to a true HD picture. Frankly I don't buy it - as if that was the case I wouldn't have. Is this set a 10? I'm sure there are things that could be better to some but for me it is. Hope this helps - good luck with your decision.
