Pros Clarity of picture
Easy to set up
Great value and features for the price
Cons Couldn't send digital signal via optical cable output to receiver out of the box
Summary The passive 3D on this set is quite impressive. As an eycare provider with optics training, I'll point out that the passive 3D provides the opportunity to have inexpensive glasses (bring 'em home from your next 3D theater experience.....important if you have kids who don't always take the best care of gear) with an excellent 3D effect. The depth on films such as The Hobbit and Life of Pi are breathtaking and even my wife who rarely notices video quality was amazed. I had two other eye doc guestes at my house last week and they were blown away by the 3D.
One other nice thing for gamers, if you run a split screen, there is a Dual Play feature on this TV that allows for player A to use glasses with one polarized filter and player B to use glasses with the other polarized filter....the end result is that Player A sees fullscreen and Player B sees fullscreen, but neither can see each other's screen to cheat (great for first person shooters).
I was irritated that the output couldn't send Digital Surround via optical right out of the box, but after calling LG, they woudl arrange for a technician to come out to enable that feature.
Hoping a software update might solve the problem as well.
I am VERY pleased and while this model doesn't have the thinnest bezel, the quality is excellent.
I DO wish the Magic Remote was included with this model, but honestly, I use my Harmony One most of the time anyway and with the free LG App on my iPhone, I can use an onscreen pointer anyway, so I'm not sure the Magic Remote is needed.
Before you buy this TV, I suggest check for great deal at: ledhdtvspurchase.blogspot.com/p/lg-55la6200.html
All in all, I am happy with the purchase and would recommend to others.
