"Very nice, after much tweaking of picture settings."
4.0 starson by ChazzenheimerPros: BEAUTIFUL picture, now that I have the settings I like for the picture. Your mileage may vary, but I like: energy saving: off, contrast: 67, brightness: 55, sharpness: 30, color: 62, tint: green 7, color temperature: cool 5.
Cons: The factory defaults for contrast, etc. were really bizarre, at least for my room. Who uses a contrast setting of 100% So, I spent way too much time finding good settings. But it was worth the effort.
Summary:
Maybe something more like brightness: 58, color: 58, is better, keep other settings mentioned above.

Updated on May 22, 2012Being a tweak-aholic, these are my final settings:
contrast: 75, brightness: 70, sharpness: 30, color: 54, tint: green 10, color temperature: cool 30. Gives BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL results.
(Exceptions: ESPN studio footage seems to be color heavy, but still quite nice with these settings, but live sporting events on ESPN come in great with these settings. With olde tv series on Netflix, all bets are off, but the settings I listed are a darn good starting point.)
Updated on Jul 11, 2012OK, final tweaks. Last settings were dealing with yellow lawn on putting greens. Better general settings: contrast: 75, brightness: 68, sharpness: 33, tint: green 4, color temperature: 0.
For my Roku Netflix, same except tint is about 22 green; weird, I know. Also, color: 52.

Like you mspano85 i'm stuck between i'm stuck between the u50 and pa6500. I realize the u50 is likely the better picture for a hundred or so more and it has smart and 3d which i don't care for. But the annoying thing is the u50 only has 2 hdmi. I need at least 3. I have read many user reviews on these two sets and surprisingly the 6500 has many great comments and recommendations. The u50 seemed to have problems more often then not. I've decided on the 60 pa6500. While the picture may not be greater than even some in its class, unlike cnet i don't have to compare it to other sets as a job. When I have the Pa6500 at home it will be the only tv there and it will be the best one there. i'm banking on it being better than my sony 4o inch 60hz lcd from 5 years ago. In a nutshell(like cnet suggests) read the user reviews. Amazon.com has some good ones

Very detailed with the settings. I appreciate that. This review is just as good as any other because all the TVs in the stores are on the craziest settings to make them look good with 100 other tvs on around them. I'm lost between the LG 60PA6500, and the Panny P60U50. I don't think it would matter. Both look like great TVs for the value.
