Manufacturer description

Six distinct processes contribute to picture improvement. LG's XD Engine takes the low resolution of analog signals to near HD levels by improving brightness, contrast, detail and enhancing color as well as reducing signal noise. This total solution results in cinema like high-resolution images. Built-in ATSC tuner allows this TV to receive over-the-air digital broadcast signals and unscrambled digital cable. Super IPS Technology&trrade educes common distortion and blurring caused by fast motion video and also provides one of the industry's widest viewing angles (176°).

Owned it one year now. Very pleased.

Pros: Nice picture, built in HDTV tuner is a huge plus if you don't have cable!

Cons: Poor sound quality (not a big deal if you have a theater system)

Review: I have owned this TV for one year now and have been very pleased with it. I use it to watch movies mostly. I do not have cable but with the built in HDTV tuner I recieve about 40 channels total (this includes standard definition channels). I have not been too impressed with the sound from the speakers but I don't use them anyways because I have all the audio fed to my Denon AVR-3801 reciever. I recently bought a Samsung upconversion DVD player and hooked it to the DVI input. With the stunning picture and my 7.1 surround sound system I don't go to the theater any more. ;)

Unbelievable

Pros: No glare as with plasmas; Clear...Clear..Clear...and Stunning

Cons: Not One that I've seen

Review: I'm sorry, I encourage you to do research until you're blue in the face like I did, but the truth is, this is THE SINGLEST GREATEST PURCHASE I EVER MADE! -- Also couldn't beat the $1999 Best Buy price (vs. a shady website).

Great looking LCD

Pros: Slick looking, front LED display, crisp picture

Cons: Only 1 DVI port, no HDMI

Review: I've been looking for LCDs for a couple weeks and finally found one to suit my needs. First, I wanted a LCD that was suitible to my budget (< $2500) and this certainly fit the bill. This is hands down the best 37" LCD to get at this price IMO, I also took a hard look at the Sharp 37" AQUOS but this TV just looks slicker and picture quality is on par if not better.

I also use this TV to connect with my PC and the 1366x768 resolution isn't bad. I opted against renting an HD box from my cable company, and I can actually receive HD channels over the air even without an antenna!

Good flat panel display...price is really coming down.

Pros: Good size screen without being too big. Good picture.

Cons: Black level vould be better

Review: Bought a year ago at BestBuy. Price is like $1K less now. I have it mounted on the wall over my fireplace that I never use. Crisp picture. I feed it with my cox cable HDTV DVR (SA8300HD) via HDMI to DVI cable. Picture is outstanding (source dependent--not all HD programming is created the same). I use a Samsung 841 DVD player (with upconvert). Solid DVD picture quality. I also have a Win XP PC connected. Works really good as a monitor for a computer media center. I sometimes wish the blackk level was a little better (but then again that is a problem with most all LCD flat panels). Watching a movie like Van Helsing (with a lot of very dark scenes full of action) is difficult. I also wish it had more DVI inputs & had a couple HDMI inputs.

Bottom line: good all-around LCD flat panel that looks nice on the wall & has a crisp picture.

Excellent picture, great features, easy set-up, great product

Pros: Picture quality, wide range of features, multiple connections

Cons: No HDMI or cable card slot; however, I suspect that the DVI and digital optical audio inputs work just as well,

Review: I am not a videophile, but I have been researching HDTVs for months and have a reasonable understanding of it for an amateur. I was going to buy a Samsung when I noticed this set at the store. I went home and downloaded a copy of the specs and had them reviewed by a co-worker who is a videophile. His comment was "Buy it". I did and brought it home on 9/26. I was going to wait until after the weekend to write a review, but after last night I decided to go ahead now.

I have watched football and network shows in HD, and satellite programs in SD. All were excellent - Monday night football was superb - but the capper occurred when we watched an HD movie via satellite last night. Used the "movie" video setting. The picture quality was spectacular. Sound was better than I expected from a television (we don't have full surround sound - yet). All-in all, I highly recommend this set, but bear in mind that this is my first HDTV.
Updated
If anything, our impression of this set is even more positive. We have adjusted the picture settings in accordance with CNET recommendations and find their advice is good. With the contrast set at 50, brightness at 60, color temperature at warm, and color at 50, the picture is great for most programs. Using the settings available on the set (settings available are daylight, normal, night time, movie, video game, and sports) can sometimes result in a picture that is almost too intense. IMHO, the contrast ratio of 1,000:1 is plenty.

My wife originally thought that I went "over the top" in getting this set. Now she thinks it is "wonderous".
